I started on one for fun, but to be honest, I kind of lost interest and put it on the backburner. lol. 
Most of what I made was from scratch, but I made the helmet using a snowtrooper helmet as the base. 
Here's a few pics of me wearing my rough-draft of it at DragonCon. 

Score and Snap is the traditional way Stormtrooper armor is removed from vacuformed shells.  Very simple technique.  You generally don't go through more than one or two (max) blades on an entire suit of armor, so definitely not for a mere helmet.
 
I actually did a video a while back, at an armor party, showing the technique:
 
After the score and snap is done, of course, finish up the edges with simple sandpaper.  (glue it onto a sanding block or dowel for best results, assuming your don't have a bench sander)
 
Lexan scissors work, but slower and require far more cleanup.  They're a good option for people who are unwilling to try working with a utility knife.

This IN from ANH is wearing an empty holster on his left side. He is not the only one. The guards in the detention block also wear their holster on the left side. They are the exception to the rule. Most INs in ANH wore the holster for their DH-17 on the right side.

The others in the photo have been referred to as "hall walkers", and the IOC recently added straight trousers and low quarters as an option for some of the Officer costume.

Yes. What Bobby said. If you are interested in doing ANH ISB, either Version 1 or 2, you can get the uniform from Cosplaysky and it should be good enough for at least basic. If you get the uniform custom fitted, and give them pics, you can request that they put in the dart, princess seams and circumference seam for higher level approval (that's what I did). If you want R1 ISB, which is Version 3, then you'll need to buy their Deluxe uniform and add to your cart the change of color item to change the tunic to white. 

My suit is from cosplaysky (and I'm the model for Version 1), it's not perfectly amazing but it passes for basic approval.

Interesting everyone comparing the Empire to the Third Reich when it’s really closer in structure and attitude to the British Colonial Empire of the early 20th century.

I’m mostly looking at this from a Canon only perspective.

The core (home islands) was wealthy and generally peaceful and prosperous under Imperil rule. There was some civil strife and horrid working conditions for the lowest classes (just like industrial Britain).

The emperor was largely a “hands off” ruler at times, allowing his regional governments to rule the empire and promoting a culture of cronyism, much like the British Monarchy at the turn of the century.

If you look at the worlds outside the galactic core they are all left mostly under semi autonomous control of regional moffs and governors, some prosper and are very pro Empire (Canada, Australia, New Zealand), others suffer under oppression (India, Africa), while even others are stripped bare of resources and exploited (again Africa, the Caribbean , the Far East).

Revolts and rebellions were handles roughly, and at times with very questionable methods both by the Empire and Imperial Britain.

Even the imperial uniforms have more in common with First World War British Officer uniforms than anything Third Reich.

A similar comparison could be made between the Empire and Imperial Germany, but to me it’s more akin to the British Empire at its height.

So really the Empire is neither good nor evil, both can be true from “A certain point of view” - Ben Kenobi.

Now the Third Reich comparison can easily be played at the First Order, which is far less subtle in its approach and is vocally genocidal and fanatical.

I was at a WW2 reenactment this weekend, and there were a couple guys there as German Polizei. Their cuffs and colors immediately reminded me of this thread, so I found some photos and thought they might help shed some light here:
