No, you are putting words in other people’s mouths.  And I disagree with you.  The difference is I have stuff to back it up with.

We have ave never had the level of access we had now.  I don’t understand why it is rejected out of hand by you.

People are already doing what they want from these films.  We should have the decency to codify it.

This is not a CRL discussion so not sure why the latter is relevant we are talking about the movie, where you matter of fact stated they are not science officer's, I still have not seen anything to back up that statement. because one minute you say having orange means you cant be a science officer but when pointed out Galen wore orange you said his title could be science officer. and yes im am confused

So by that theory Galen was not a science officer

You are confusing title and rank.  He could be a science officer, his title.  He could also wear the rank of a colonel  as an operations officer in the imperial military.

At times we have had chiefs of the CIA that were 3 stars admirals and yet were called “directors”. The head of the V2 rocket program in WWII Germany Werner Von Braun was a civilian director.  He also was a Sturmbannführer in the SS.  The same is for Director Krennic.  Krennic is the director of the advanced weapons group AND he holds the rank of Fleet admiral ( 6 Blue, 6 red).

And its not a theory.  The screen writers, the costumer designers and the people in the story group publishing the books are all saying it.  Go look.

Just saw it last night and I thought it was really good.  Especially considering it was said that 80% had to be re-shot for Ron Howard.  Usually massive re-shoots just spells disaster.

I feel like a lot of the hate comes from those "fans" who always think they know better, the armchair quarterbacks of Star Wars.  Their "head canon" and/or fan fiction was "ruined", so they get super salty and toxic.  Thankfully their hate for Solo didn't ruin my enjoyment of it.  I went in fairly agnostic about it and was pleasantly surprised.  I loved the characters, the story, the score...just everything.  My one gripe is that the Patrol Trooper didn't get more screen time, as I really like that look.

I saw the black and green uniformed officers at the cocktail party wore straight pants and Chelsea boots.  This is a variant uniform, they are not science officers

Wanted to share some pics of the ladies of the Star Garrison and Kessel Base from Comicpalooza last weekend

Someone had an idea to do a group photo of "pinup style" costumes- started out as officers but as you can see also included some Imperial and Rebel variations, and even got Younglings involved.

Me with my rebel scum husband (NOT Rebel Legion approved- work in progress!)

With a couple of good friends who have actual officer costumes in work, so getting some use out of their accessories in the interim

PArmstr got a reaction from tarok in CRL Idea: Combine Navy Trooper IN Dress & Staff Officer
No, we should not update the ANH 451 CRL to include all ANH officers. They have completely different uniforms.  In ANH the officers with rank badges wore the Fahrenheit 451 tunics, riding boots and jodhpurs. The warrant officers and Navy troopers dress uniform ANH wore NY police tunics (dark blue wool), regular trousers, jackboots (with buckles) and gauntlets with straps. The Rogue One Navy Troopers Dress uniform wore a similar uniform as the Navy Trooper ANH but it is not the same. The tunic is black instead of blue, the jack boots does not have the buckle, the belt has grooves and the belt boxes are different, the gauntlets are different as well.

The regular imperial officer tunic in black was never worn with jackboots. The jackboots where only worn with the blue NY police tunic and the black Rogue One version of that tunic. It seems that in Han Solo the regular imperial officer tunic in black was worn with straight pants and Chelsea boots at the party similar to the Rogue One Science officer based on Galen Erso in the flashback scene of Rogue One but I am not sure about that.

In theory we could put all costumes with the black imperial officer tunic in one CRL and add a lot of options but then only the people that work on that CRL would understand it. We need more CRLs not less to make sure that the CRLs do not get too complicated. You should not need a master’s degree in Star Wars Imperial Officer Uniform to understand it. Please do not forget that many people in the 501st Legion are not native speakers of English.

    3. ANH Warrant Officer (new) and 5. ANH Navy Trooper (new) can be in the same CRL if you mean the Navy Trooper Dress uniform. The warrant officer is basicly a Navy Trooper Dress without the holster and the DH-17 and a black officer cap instead of the helmet. Every other component of the costume is completely the same.

The Rogue One Navy Trooper and the Solo Navy Trooper do not match. The Rogue One Navy Troopers are similar to the ones in ANH. I do not know what tunic the navy trooper in Solo wears but it is probably the regular black tunics that was used in ESB, ROTJ and R1.

I really enjoyed Solo. I have seen it twice so far. I liked Rogue One and Solo more than TFA and TLJ. For some reason I like the "A Star Wars Story"-Movies more than I like the Prequels or the Sequels of the Skywalker Saga. I also liked Rebels more than I liked "The Colone Wars". Perhaps its because R1, Solo and Rebels are closer to the OT than the others.

I think that Ron Howard and the cast did a great job. I do not mind that Han Solo and Lando Calrissian look and behave different than they did in the OT.

They also have the armour and mud goggles. Bit off topic though. This is the third step in my plan. Step one layout, step two split/tidy CRLs (sorry Kris, I'm going to fight you on the ISB), step three add our missing officers back in (I'll be kind and even share them between detachments)

The basic storyline was not new or innovativ, Coaxium is obiously the new Unobtainium, but considering all the horrible things we've heard before the movie started (differences between Disney and the directors, change of directors, reshootings, etc...) it turned out quite good and I was positively surprised. I really liked the beginning at Corellia and seeing all the Star Destroyers in the making. I also had no problem with Alden Ehrenreich, because I simply did not think about the fact that he does not at all look like a young Harrison Ford. And I think that SOLO definitely has the best battlefield scenes from all Star Wars movies, showing the trenches, soldiers being dirty, it reminded of some WWI battle.

To me SOLO comes close to R1 and is definitely better than Ep. VIII.

I loved this movie. I was very surprised and very thankful that they did it right this time. And best of all, or perhaps worse (depending on your point of view), is that there are at least two new costumes that I'd love to build!!

A friend summed it up nicely. It's not a saga film, but is definitely a star wars film.

It breathes the galaxy we know, but the story is different in a good way.

Only seen it once, need to see it again. Once more for fun, once to study potential costumes. Plus I want Han'sjacket, for casual wear.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the film! I don't credit to the furore of 'fan' groups before a print of the film has even been released, and contrary to modern form prefer to formulate my own opinion then discuss it!

I was actually reasonably excited at the prospect of it being the first Star Wars film without a single lightsabre, as it would prove that such a story can be told and told successfully thus opening the door for a vast variety of possibilities in the future.

I admit I'm at a loss for what people are looking for, what qualifies as a 'true Star Wars film' if even this doesn't.

Oh, and that Imperial Army Officer gear. Gimme. Now.

I enjoyed the movie very much. The fact that there was no light saber battles in it didn't  bother me at all. The story didn't call for any. If they tried sneaking one in it would of ruined the movie.

100% agree on what you said Mark. The feeling I got from several people is that they considered this movie not a ''Star Wars'' movie due to the lack of Jedi or Sith battles, no epic confrontations or morality issues... and that it was too ''small'' a narrative.

In my honest opinion it beats the prequels by several factors  And i think the movie will make it's money over it's run and SW is big enough of a franchise that it can take blows from haters and only grow stronger from it.

    Greetings IOC,

As many of you probably did, I spent my weekend trooping at a local Theater for the opening of Solo, A Star Wars Story.  Personally, I was pleasantly surprised by how good the movie was.  I enjoyed it all 3 times that I viewed it.

For whatever reason, the box office didn't explode for it and the haters that suggested a boycott have declared a victory.  It saddens me that any fan of the Star Wars universe would take pleasure in the possible failure of any Star Wars film.

I've been a fan since I saw the first movie in the theater in 1977.  At that time, we didn't have the instant response of the internet or more specifically, social media.  We we're all starving for anything Star Wars and felt lucky to see our favorite Star Wars Characters in any way.  Donnie and Marie, The Muppet Show and The Holiday Special are what we got and we were appreciative.

To see fans that call themselves "True fans", reveling in the low numbers at the box office is just baffling to me.  Who knows what the exact factors of the low numbers may be?  Who cares?  It is still the top of the box office this week, it's still a great movie, it was entertaining and interesting.   What do they want?  The end of Star Wars again?  I was excited when the Thrawn Trilogy breathed life back into my favorite universe, I don't want that universe to go dark again.

I must say, the 501st family seems to be of the same mind on this subject.  Most of the comments from them are mostly positive.  But some of the rabid Star Wars fan groups are just beating it to death, in fact, I had to leave one of my favorites due to the negative comments.  They can't possibly think that the removal of Kathleen Kennedy will transform the movies back to their personal vision of what they want the movies to be...these are the same fanboys that came down on George Lucas and the Prequels.

I have enjoyed anything that has extended the story of the Star Wars Universe and I take it at face value, a great fantasy and interesting entertainment.  Any chance to keep the dream alive is great with me.

    Thanks for reading my rant,
    Enjoy life...enjoy Star Wars!!!

May the Force be with You...Always!!

Cleaning up the existing ISB CRL is better than nothing. Is there a reason the ISB CRL cannot be split up into two CRLs? I am having a difficult time understanding why it is better to clean up the mess by reworking the exciting one instead of making two new ones especially if Steven and I already did some work on that. Personally, I think having two ISB CRLs would make it easier to understand for newbies and people that do not speak English as a native language. I really do not want to be a pain in the neck; I just want to understand the reasoning behind the process. I have been a member of this Forum since 2014 and some things do not make sense to me.

PArmstr reacted to charlyselo in Line/Staff Rain Poncho by charlyselo
A few months ago, in January to be more exact, I made a rain poncho, guiding me a little about Angelus' work and screenshots of the film.
I made a tutorial for the forum of Spanish Garrison, and now I will be translating it here little by little. I hope you like it

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

Fabric: Black nylon 100% waterproof. 3 meters x 1.5 meters.

The rain poncho consist in three main parts: yoke and collar(blue), cape (black) and breastplate(green).

Let's go with the first one.

    Cape

Cape is the most easy part. Consist of two rectangles, wich length is the size from the neck to the upper part of the boots, and width comes from the same point of the neck to the top of your fingers, putting your arms cross.

Then you have to sew it together only on the red line, a little bit more of the half.

    Yoke and collar

This part consist in another four parts: back, front right side, front left side and collar.

    Back:

I give you mi sizes as reference. It's based on a XL size from CosplaySky suit.

On the last image, the red line correspond to the seams need to be visible, about a 1" from the border.

Next, the front left side (from the wearer's point of view) consist in two pieces:

H.2 and H.3 need to be sew it together at the middle. H.3 will be on top of the front right piece. H.4 is the front right piece:

Now that's how it should look:

Grey part from H.4 will be hidden by H.3
Again, visible seams are required. Red are 1" from the border, blue are 1/2":

    Bib

So sorry if 'bib' it's not the correct name for this piece.

The bib is quite simple to make. It consists of four sections, namely: two symmetrical sections, one inch wide, which will go on each side of the bib. A four-inch section on the left side, seen from the front, which will contain the pocket for the dosimeters, and finally a fourth central section.

The two outer sections will go down to the edge of our suit jacket, while the other two inner sections will be two inches longer. Remember, once again, to leave seam allowances when cutting the fabric.

The pocket in my case I made it four inches deep, enough to contain the dosimeters (at least the ones I have, manufactured by Malakili). For this I simply cut that section with the calculated length, plus twice the depth of the pocket, that is, eight inches. In this way simply by folding we get the pocket.

The fourth and last section, the central one, is the simplest. Simply calculate the width to fill in the full width of the shoulder / neck part.

And finally the visible seams. Across the bottom, seam to approximately a quarter of an inch to finish off the edge. Another quarter-inch seam in the center section over the pocket section. And most importantly, two cross seams in the pocket section. One inch horizontally from the edge of the pocket, and another vertically one inch to the left of the section. In this way we will "divide" the pocket in two, one of an inch almost useless and the other of three inches where the dosimeters will go. Earlier I said that this section will be four inches, although we now have a pocket really three inches wide. Keep in mind that a pocket less than two and a half inches wide we can have trouble putting two dosimeters.

Another measure that I have forgotten to comment on before, is that the pocket will be approximately two inches from the top edge.

And another thing to keep in mind when joining the three parts of the poncho, is that you have to form a "sandwich" in the following order from outside to inside: shoulders, cape and bib. I will leave some photos where I hope you can see well what I mean.
