This is the Star Wars show I didn't know that I wanted, but now I really do!

    Same!

I hope this new series is as good as it should be.

If the Rogue One directors, producers etc. are involved then we have a good chance.

But remember, these are the egotists that gave us the Last Jedi debacle and have since

spent the past 11 months attacking, criticising, berating and condemning its fan base.

I'll believe it lives up to Rogue One standards when I see it live up to Rogue One standards.

Now that I have voiced my soapbox I will say that I to am hoping for good things from this new

    live action production.

The Last Jedi is the second best Star Wars film, imho. The only debacle is the one people decided had to exist.

  2. Hugo Boss knew what he was doing.

That said, the uniforms are much closer to British Empire uniforms than German ones, and WW1 at that. This one, though, is definitely much more Nazi-inspired.

Either way, you just have to know your audience when you wear whatever costume you've chosen for the event.

  3. Belt
    • The belt is constructed from a non-textured leather or a leather-like material.
    • Approximately 2" (50.8 mm) in width
    • There are no loops on the belt.
    • Two small snaps or rivets - arranged vertically -  are visible approximately 1/2" (12.7 mm) from the buckle.
      • The belt may be worn with the snap to the right or left of the wearer.
    • The buckle is constructed from a horizontally brushed metal, or metal looking material.
    • The buckle size is approximately 2" (50.8 mm) high and 3 1/4" (82.5 mm) wide with rounded corners. It should be roughly the same height as the belt.
    • Buckle is adorned with an Imperial Code Disk at the center.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
    • Belt is made of leather.
    • Code disk has a notch at the top
    • Buckle has a slight horizontal curve.
  4. It's a seam that does nothing, so it's not like it needs to be really strong. It's not load bearing, as it were.

Open the seam between the panel and lining, fold in a little, stitch it up. Maybe 1/4" seam. Then sew the lining closed again.

If the panel is too far off from the bottom of the coat (and I doubt it'll even be noticeable), hem it. It's not enough to make it too short.

  5. Sure!

This is the best picture of the greeblie, and it's also on that alternate belt:

Tristan and I believe that funky pattern is from degradation of the prop, although if someone wanted to make that, it'd probably be cool. Note, also, the disc on this belt has a notch on it.

This is the trooper wearing that belt (backwards, even!):

And another, with the greeblie on the left:

Here's a whole group of troopers wearing the greeblie to the right of the buckle:

And here's the best image of the gloves, although you really need to see it in motion to see the lines clearly:

  6. I believe I'm now ready to start this thread!

I've been doing a lot of research (with tons of help!) on, specifically, the ROTJ Naval Trooper, especially the belt, greeblie, and gloves.

    Current CRL:

    http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:IN_imperial_navy_trooper

    Belt and Greeblie research here:

    Gloves here:

I'm waiting for a sunny day again (hard to find this time of year in New Hampshire) to get my Imperator photos done, but I think the info is out there now well enough that we can work on updating the verbiage for the CRL. I'd love to see updates for both ANH and ROTJ, so if anyone has any input, please please please feel free!

The biggest change for ROTJ is the belt greeblie. I'm not sure how to describe it, so I would just say something like (but less clunky):

    pqJZlX9.jpg

    Belt Greeblie for ROTJ

    • Greeblie is small, rectangular device with a raised circle, as pictured (and I'll take better photos, obviously).
    • There is a metallic inner circle embedded in the raised circle.
    • A translucent set of rectangular "keys" is attached to one end.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
    • Greeblie keys are 5 rectangles
    • Greeblie base color is grey
OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable):
    • Greeblie matches screen-used prop

I'm pretty certain that the horizontal belt boxes should be deleted. I don't recall seeing them on screen at all.

There's also a variant for the belt which has two studs, rather than one! It's rare, only on one (maybe two!) troopers, but it should be included, too. The key to that one is that the buckle is the same height as the belt, as seen here:

    XCwqE9m.jpg

On the gloves, they have three lines (not pinched), so we can copy the verbiage from the other CRLs with those style of gauntlet gloves.

  7. I feel like 2" is not really a good measurement:

And, given that we try to make things proportional to the wearer, having inches at all makes it difficult. When I got approved for Bridge Crew, my GML had questions about my hat because of the measurements listed there, despite it being rather proportional to my head. I'm not sure what the answer there is, but maybe something more like:

"A dart from the center of the collar to just below the hieght of the code cylinder pocket" (as you'll notice in those pics above, it is below that pocket).

(I'm ignoring that Piett wouldn't actually get approved from that second picture since there appears to be no neck closure or modesty panel.)

That style of helmet is not a new thing, whilst not seen on screen it was featured in one of the comic story lines and there was even an action figure of Biggs as an TIE pilot wearing one

Sorta, that one had a clear faceplate at least. And the author specifically called it out.

But I'm sure this was done for the same reason, to see the principal's face.
