Basically how it would need to be fixed is by taking the collar off and resizing the neck hole, which is very hard to do without adding that additional seam that they're talking about. But a good hunk of the tunic would need to be dismantled to do so. The lining would need to be removed, and depending on how the tailor wants to go forward, some of the panels would be replaced.or that seam would be added.

As for pricing, some do and some don't. If a tailor has a flat rate, they may give a price, but most tailors I've met do charge by the hour and may provide their rates that way.

I just took it seven different tailors two of them said that it was possible. Out of the two one of them said that I would be very expensive and it would require a lot of work and the dismantling the tunic. The other said they would charge $45  but Idk how well of a job that would be. Mean while the other 5 said it was impossible or that they wanted to add a seam in the back. Also most of them werent giving me any prices except one. Is that normal for them to do? I contacted cosplay sky through amazon under the item was damage or defective and they said that all their collars are fixed and That a tailor could fix it. Granted I Amazon doesn’t give u the option to make custom measurements, but I bought my ISB tunic from there and had no problems at all the collar was just right.  I’m sorry but I’m not going to send way more money to get something fixed when there should have never been a problem. I’m going to ask a coworker if they could fix it. If not I’m returning both uniforms.

Some of the applicants I had as a GML had similar problems. One Lady got it fixed by a tailor (she did not tell me details how the tailor did it), some others sent the uniform back and got a new one with a tighter collar.

In total I have a bit of the feeling, even if you order there with your exact measurements, they seem to think of the customer as being obese and vain . Most of those uniforms I saw in the last years were wider than the applicant ordered it, had the elephant-ears on the pants, the double breast's right upper end exeeded the top shoulder-seam and the collar was too wide. While fixing the pants and the double breast is totally possible even for amateurs, sizing down the width of the collar is very difficult even for tailors because you'd have to add fabric (which would maybe lead to a replacement of the breast-part or the back-part of the tunic).

I hope they will care for this in the future since they offer an inexpensive uniform that could be more suiting and more accurate just be some small alterations of the pattern or the handling with the customers measurements.

You definitely can, but the majority of people I know who had issues and were able to get it remade had theirs made with custom measurements. Never hurts to try though!

A tailor may be able to fix it, but it may end up being more cost effective to reorder. I know my own shop rates aren't cheap, but it really does depend on who's in your area!!

Unfortunately if the collar is large like that, there isn't really a way to fix it, as there won't be enough material to take it in.

If you provided neck measurements, measure what you received and compare it to what you sent. They're usually quite good about fixing orders that they've messed up

You might be able to take it into a tailor and see if something can do done about it. Not 100% sure though

The CyberSeams pattern is one of the most popular, probably because it's pretty much the only one anyone has bothered to really put out there.  And of course, it's posted here in these forums.  It's not 100% perfect, but it should produce an approvable hat.  A lot of people mention needing to tweak it, however.

There are a few threads I recall discussing changes made to the pattern, dialing in a pretty perfect hat, when MKate21 was developing her pattern for the hat she makes and sells here now.  If you read them over and emulate the improvements, you might be able to skip more to the end product.

I do use that. But I had to do some editing to it as some people's head is smaller or bigger :/

    What size did you use?

Otherwise known as: IC-7255 gets a promotion!

Now, for the purpose of this tutorial, I'm going to start with going the path of warrant officer, because I get to keep the same boots as my IC and I don't have to worry about a rank badge or the jodhpurs (which I like). There's also a hat pattern I need to print out, but I'll worry about that once I find some legal-sized paper.

Before it gets asked, no, there won't be daily updates. I will say that I'm wanting to do work on something costume-related every day this year, but I have a project list of 22-ish items (realistically, I can only be working on between four to ten other projects currently), so this will get updated on days I work on this.

The goal is, of course, to pass CRL, but another secondary goal is also to show folks that it is possible to do an ID for not a whole lot, if you're half-crazy and determined. I say that because the material I'm going to be using is not wool. It is a mid-weight suiting fabric however, and that is what matters for approval. Also, with a 50% coupon from JoAnn's, it was $5/yd, so I have enough for the coat, straight-legged pants, jodhpurs (if/when I get around to those), and a hat, plus mistakes, for very little. I'll add item numbers at the end of this post. But, so far this is everything. The pants for the 4745 say I need a 1' buckle, so I'll find one of those I like, then really begin this insanity.

    Item numbers (all JoAnn's):
    8556714 (black mid-weight suiting material)
    821389 (black lining)
2614378 (nickel coat hooks & eyes)
    1923077 (sew-on snaps, size 2)
The buttons are a La Mode style 2044, can't find a product number.

Everything else should be self-explanatory, fusible interfacing, black thread (I'm going with polyester to avoid shrinkage later), the necessary pattern, and tracing paper for the modifications.

Let's hope this doesn't go terribly wrong. Or if it does, it's a learning experience.

Goo Gone may work on it. Might want to test it on an inconspicuous place on your tunic to make sure it doesn't discolor. It worked getting off adhesive that was stuck to my garrison racing shirt.

I've been told that velcro or other discrete fastenings will assist there; anything you can do to rig the belt so that it doesn't move from your hip without showing on the outside. I've also been told that if you can't do that, then you will need to suffice with either a lighter blaster, or no blaster at all.

I can't tell you for sure if it's a good thing or not , personally i though of buying those as well ( more like a repro of those , i'm not fond of half-rusted original pieces ) for a second pair a boots . They are fairly obvious when worn but as you suggested perhaps they'd be less obvious if painted black . Although , since you'll walk in them , the paint will come off pretty quickly .
I'd like to read someone else's answer on the subject .

I have been thinking (yes i know thats scary) but they claim production is completed now why would any company complete the line then send for safety testing thats suicide because if it does not meet standards they have lost all those costumes and would have to start again

I finally got fed up and cancelled my order.  I had a black and an olive hat for myself, and a black hat for a friend.  I scored a pair of XL MUR black hats at the two for one on eBay for my buddy, cause his melon is huge.
Now I'm waiting for the fabric from cosplaysky to arrive so I can send it to Gina and have a hat that matches perfect.
Basically, what I should have done from the get go.
Good luck to the folks who stick it out though!
