From the LMOs the answer was basically this wont happen as it would take a whole restructuring of the entire system, not just for the IOC but all and also the Database

Oh, OK, I guess that makes sense and clears that up then :)

I assume then going forward we'll just tack on either 'Officer:' or 'Imperial Crew:' or 'Navy Trooper:' to our CRLs (i.e. the Death Star NCO and Transport Officer will be updated to match the rest of the CRLs).

Basically then we'll just stick everything under 'Officer:' as there probably won't be other additions the the Crew or NTs.

  2. I know a while back a few folks were talking about possibly updating the grouping we have our CRLs in.  Since our list is only growing larger by the week, I thought I'd look at that old topic.  However, I wasn't able to find it... probably was within another thread somewhere.

Anyhow, I was wondering if it's a possibility?  What, if anything, came of that discussion?

I was thinking along the lines of:

    Crew:

The non-officers folks.  Bridge, Mechanical, Scanning, upcoming things like that

    Would keep the IC-Prefix

    Individuals:

The would obviously be named people, Daala, Tarking, Kallus, Isard, etc

    Could update to an II-Prefix

    Officers:

These would be the generic groups of people, NCOs, Line, Staff, Admirals, etc...

    Would keep the ID-Prefix

    Security:

Navy / Fleet Troopers, ISB, Transport

    IN-Prefix

By default, if it's a named person, they'd always go to the II or Individual Category.  Otherwise, they'd fall into the Officer, Crew, or Security dependent on their role.

    Just an idea.  Thoughts?

  3. I know he's mentioned in a book, but do we have any actual reference pictures of him?  Maybe a comic or something?

If not, I don't think it'd be possible except you could say you're him with the correct rank bar on a Line Officer uniform... but not sure much else without the reference pics.

And after a quick Google Image search, I found an image.

    Moff Panaka

Not sure why you couldn't get the ball rolling.  My only reservation would be I think we'd need a full body shot.  Would have to do some more digging.

That could indeed be a possibility...

    Good Luck with the approval!!!

Thanks... just awaiting my Jack Boots... there somewhere between the US and Russia, lol.

If you do go the route of incorporating all the IOC "crews,"  it could be something like the IOC3 for Imperial Officer Corps Crew Company, or something like that.

The crew is so underrated... I mean, I know Stormtroopers get the fame of being the backbone of the Empire... but really, without the Crew(s), ships would be worthless ;)

They were seen on the screen in ANH. You just have to watch the scene where Alderaan gets destroyed. I lightened up the last image. You can clearly see that they do not wear jackboots.

    Epic.  Thanks for doing that.
And I'm sorry to derail the thread, but I'm going to bring it all back together.

Knowing how Star Wars reused costume parts as much as possible, it may be a safe assumption to say these boots were the same that the ISB Officers and some Hall Walkers are wearing in ANH.

To bring it full circle, they look like the same type of ankle boots seen in Solo.  So possibly it is an optional accessory for IGs and NTs, as it is for ISB Agents, and now for this new CRL?

Stefan - are those shoes you're wearing, or a type of ankle boot?

  6. So I don't see any reference in the CRLs as to how close to the top the buckle has to be.  I think the boots in the second link would be OK, as the buckle as at the top, relatively (about an inch below).  I think the inch is referring to the width of the actual strap / buckle, which I believe they would be.

As to the stretch panels, don't most boots with buckles have that?  I didn't know there were jack boots with buckles that don't have the panel.  Seems like the purpose of the buckle is to help with the panel.

Anyhow, I appreciate the input as my search continues (trying to keep under $100).

I don't like it as it's own CRL.

As an optional configuration, I can see it.

    I guess.

Makes sense.  I'm OK either way with either a new CRL for Service Dress or have it as a version added to the Line Officer and Staff Officer.

It'll be good to get it implemented either way! :)

  8. Although the sceencaps aren't perfect, I think the only thing we really needed to confirm were the boots and the type of tunic used, correct?

From Dawn's screencaps, middle photo, we can see they're wearing Chelsea boots, so should be good there.

From Dawn's first photo we're able to see on the Staff Officer's right shoulder the tunic edge just lifts up a little, so there is confirmation of the tunic style worn.

We also know the belt boxes and belt remain the same from R1, and we can see them elsewhere.  And we can see that these dress pants don't have the flares.  Also, obviously, they aren't wearing a hat.

Hence, I don' t think we're making a leap of faith or anything... I think we can actually make a pretty good case that we can account for the wardrobe parts being worn.

And I think we can also confirm that this Service Dress would be for both Line and Staff (and technically can make for ISB too since we already have it under the ISB as an approved outfit).

  9. Great - good to know.  Thanks much!

I wonder if that CRL would ever be updated... I think we'd see more folks get approved knowing they could use their CPS Line Officer.  I read it as it strictly had to be Olive.  I know it's in JRS and not IOC, but at least we can tell others it may be an option for them.

If you have 2 CPS tunics you could add red stripes to one of them and do the 181st dress uniform...

Would that work?  I thought the 181st dress was actually a few tones deeper / more olive.  Hence, I didn't think the CPS Field Grey would work for 181?

  11. That's a good question.  I knew about the 501st seeing them at Star Wars nights across many sports games in the RDU area here in NC, USA.  I didn't really have the time as my wife and I were our church's youth group leaders helping the youth group pastor (we ran about 150 kids a week at our service), for about 5 years.  In 2015-2016, he felt called to be a missionary on the Arabian peninsula, so my wife and I knew our time was coming to an end.  We loved working with and helping the kids, and wanted to continue in a similar fashion.

I've grown up with Star Wars (my grandma taking me to ANH when I was a month old, lol), and just happened to look into the 501st again in 2015.  I decided that combining my love of Star Wars, charity aspects, and still being able to put a smile on kids faces - that needed to be the next chapter in my life.  Although a hurricane (Matthew) set us back, by 2017 I got approved and haven't looked back since.

In the past 18 months, I've trooped over 30 events and my wife has been a handler at a few.  I started with a Staff Officer, but once I realized that ANH Staff Officer's didn't wear the CPS black tunic, I switched to ISB.  Then, I realized that the 'white' tunic CPS sells isn't really cream (ugh!), I went with the R1 ISB Agent (from CPS).   Now, I happily switch between my R1 ISB, ESB Navy Trooper, and sometimes I'll do the R1 Sheild Gate Officer or if it's the end of a long day, I'll do RotJ Warrant Officer.  I have a Line Officer that I'm just awaiting the hat... and then I'm going to get the armor for AT-AT Commander.  After running a table for about 8-10 hours at a Con, I can't wait to see some of the upcoming CRLs with Officer's with Chelsea boots!!! :)  But I digress...

It's funny because I was incredibly shy (and still am), but I've really opened up going to these events.  I LOVE running the tables at events, and helping out in the background with the POCs.  My wife has noticed I'm a lot less of an introvert as well.  I'm made some really great friends in the Carolina Garrison... and meet a few great folks too from VA and TN!  I really feel our area has connected and I see a real strong community through our 501st members... and enjoy seeing new ones joining the ranks too.

Last, I never thought I'd get multiple Star Wars Costumes (I swore I'd only get one when I joined), but I sure have veered from that!  I never really collected much before, but I'd say I'm a costume collector now and have my eyes on what might be my next 3 - 4 outfits :)

Well, that was my story.  I enjoyed reading those so far and look forward to those who will add to this thread.

  12. Wow, this is great news.  I was really hoping to see something like this, but didn't really expect any sort of response.

    I'm genuinely excited.

Although I only have a few costumes and am just an average person, if I can be of any assistance please let me know.

  13. Hello.

I know about 8-12 of us have been bouncing back and forth, across multiple threads, with proposals, and CRL ideas for update and fixes, and sometimes we're being told it's being worked on, and sometimes we're told it won't fly, and sometimes we're told nothing.

I'm not one to dig too far into all the who does what, but would it be possible to confirm some information?

IIRC, the LMOs (and sorry, I'm not even sure what that stands for nor what they do) are the ones who update and create CRLs.

For the sake of my ignorance, and others who may be in the same boat, could someone explain, or point me to where if this already exists, the process of seeing movement on either an existing CRL, or creation of a new one?

If possible, could we be provided a map of what CRLs are known to have errors or need updates, and which are in the works for creation?

I just feel like if we had a road map of sorts, that would help a lot.  Thinking back to the beginning of 2018, I believe we've seen the introduction of the 451s and an update to the ISB Agent.

Seems like there are just a ton more to do and work on, and I'm curious how it's going or if folks are just too burned out or over loaded or maybe a ton is being worked on behind the scenes and we just don't know or see it.

Please do not read into this.  I'm not bashing anyone or saying anything negative.  I'm truly not sure of the process and just trying to understand it, as well as wondering if a few of us that are vocal can help in any way?

In the least, a road map or chart would be excellent!  If one doesn't exist, maybe someone with authority can give the green light for a few of us to help create one, or something?

    Thoughts?

Looks like the ISB boots for the R1 variant have the top straps, like Krennic. I don't see a mention of this in the CRL, so just curious if it was allowed (and/or should be added as at least optional).

I'd be curious about this as well.  From what I have been told, by a costume designer on R1 and Solo... ALL the boots the officer's wore (in R1 & Solo) are the 'new' officer boots that have those top straps and if they'd run out during a shot, they'd fill in with left over TFA boots.

The exact quote I was emailed in regards to boot use...

    Quote

"...we use the taller officers style field boot with buckle at the top to fit it at the calf, and we would preferably use a boot with a heel rather than a wedge (The wedge soles are 1st order but they are in our stock so are used sometimes when we run out of boots.)"

I've looked, but I can't find them for sale anywhere.  So hopefully they won't be mandatory, maybe optional, unless we can find a supplier.

One more thing... I need to order a new hat disc due to the "As above(excluding A New Hope optional items) but utilizing the following tunic, belt boxes and code cylinders instead also note there is no notch on hat disk."

But, should the disc still have the groove? Only discs I've seen so far that do not have the notch, also has no groove.

I believe I got mine from Elvis Trooper.  Buy the belt one (pic below) but message him and for a few bucks extra he can glue on the stem so you can use it on your hat.  All R1 and Solo Line/Staff/ISB hats seem to use these (no notch).

You would think, you would hope - but their is always General Veers example - who is an AT-AT Commander!

I think there is enough of a difference, but on the other hand you have "General" Viggen, who you could also easily argue is a Rebels' Era AT-AT Commander!

Honestly we won't know until the first Armoured Officer CRL is submitted!

IMHO, first, General Veers is not just an AT-AT Commander.  He's an armored officer (prepared for combat) that is on the AT-AT because those were the vehicles granted to him for his assault.  He is clearly giving troop orders.  You could easily have inserted him into any vehicle, and/or inserted any officer into that position.  If he had sub-officers with him, I believe they would have worn the same battle ready armor as well.  I think having him as a CRL as AT-AT Commander is incorrect, and should be renamed as Armored Imperial Line Officer (or something like that), and moved from ACD to IOC.  I'm sure folks will disagree and that is ok.  I just don't see it any other way.

The ACD should be for Imperial/F.O. pilots/drivers (whatever name you prefer) navigating a vehicle.  All their CRLs are just that, except the random AT-AT Commander.  It just doesn't make sense.  And granted, I understand at one time they only had like 4 CRLS, and IOC had 25+, so it was nice to share.  But now they've received more, and the random officer in armor (AT-AT Commander) should be updated and correctly categorized (back to IOC).

The IOC should have any officer, armored or not.  I'm not a part of the ACD, but I'd go out on a limb to say that I don't believe the "spirit" of the ACD is to have folks in armor.  And, if that is the case, then then why our officer and no other troops wearing armor?

We would, in theory, have Veers, Tarkin, Thrawn, Pryce, and any other generic Line Officer or generic governor or grand admiral whom needed to wear armor for combat readiness.

Looking even to see if there is anything to trade to them, I don't think currently.  Probably could throw one or two to JRS, but that's another discussion.

  16. Patricia,

You've been doing a great job and a lot of work.  I'm trying to piggyback off of some of your posts to help get confirmation so you can get some of these updates or new CRLs to light.

I confirmed with David Crossman (and I think we already knew this but it's always great to have confirmation with someone that works on these items) that the Navy Troopers in R1 and Solo are wearing the same tunic as seen in ANH.  He still calls them the fireman's tunic, but at least we know it IS different from the Staff Officers.  So only the Navy Troopers in ESB and RotJ are wearing the black Staff Officer's uniform.

I hope we can get these cleaned up - it's so hard trying to explain to new recruits.

  17. Because I knew you had worked to create this, and I had an ANH ISB agent (that I figured wasn't really screen accurate) and a R1 ISB Agent, I thought I'd see if David Crossman could chime in.

I asked ... "In ANH, the ISB agents seen on the Death Star, are they wearing a modified Russian Imperial Army Officer’s Summer Tunic?  It’s very hard to see exactly the seams and cuts since the lighting was wonky in 1977 and even these characters were mostly in the background.  We’re assuming they’re either a cream color, or maybe off-white and just bad lighting."

His response was... "I don’t know the exact answer ... I’m afraid, but thats probably a correct assumption."

    So I did try.

I would love to see the ANH and R1 split out as they clearly are a different tunic.  Only makes sense not to lump them together as it's not just a difference in the accessories.
