And it appears that Thrawn's armour is completely different to other Rebels Armour and closer to Veers Armour

I need to go back and look - I thought Veers armor was a Snowie chest plate - that seems to come in up top more to show the code cylinders.

Push buttons as stated are not correct

And I understand that.  But we need to quit making certain costumes "special," unless we push across that special to all at once.  As we've gone over, Plexi isn't accurate for OT.  Yet it's still allowed all the way though Level 3.  Making special rules ONLY for certain costumes is only punishing those that want to make those costumes.

Here is what we have for Pryce, also it would be better to add modified chalk holders than remove them completely

    For 501st approval:

See the Imperial Rank Bar page for more information.

Worn on the left side of the tunic over the heart.

Rank consists of colored plastic tiles mounted on metal bar.

Each bar is 1" (25.4 mm) height.

Top bar has a 1/4" (6.4 mm) radius on the top right and left corner.

Bottom bar has a 1/4" (6.4 mm) radius on the bottom right and left corner.

Push buttons are not correct for Rebels style rank tiles.

Rank bar exactly matches the color pattern used in the references.

Six blue tiles on the top bar.

Three red tiles followed by three yellow tiles on the bottom bar.

For level two certification (if applicable):

Rank bar is one metal strip with four rounded corners NOT two separate bars as with OT rank bars.

I'd move the push button line to Level 2, but that's just my opinion.

There's the obvious exception for people medically incapable of wearing contacts, of course.  For some, glasses are a necessity.  The 501st does not prevent those people from participating.

True.  And we don't have anyone like that, but if we did that exception would be made.

We do have a completely blind Nillus - or pilot, I think he's done with that.

  5. Our rule (take it for what you will) - If you're a "face" character, you must look like them at all times while in public.  Several of our members on both sides, including our Obi Wan, had to get contacts to do this - they normally wear glasses.  Since Thrawn is supposed to have different eyes, that should be simple enough, prescription contacts.

For general characters, like Officers and Bridge Crew, however, glasses are allowed (and they're now cannon in the universe thanks to Rebels.)

So i'd say for Thrawn, take the time to get contacts you can see with that look like his eyes, and you solve two issues with one hit.

  6. What he said.

So, as a Merch Officer (puts on my cap) there is nothing stopping you from making non 501st patches - other than possibly running afoul of LFL copyrights.  Hence why when people ask in public something like "where can I buy a Stormtrooper/Vader/whatever costume, we refer them to the boards - my understanding was it was an agreement we made with LFL.  That said - if you're trying to meet a CRL, yes, make sure you follow the CRL.

As Kalani said, given you're here in Dallas, either Hawk (Midwestern Garrison) or Mark (Northern Darkness Garrison) would be a good place to start to look over your sample.  Or they may jump in here and refer you to a LMO or your GML.

I honestly am excited to see what you do with the Thrawn patch - though I really need to stop buying patches and start putting them on my jacket :P

That is a sad story.  Making the one he wears in the Couruscant cocktail flashback.  I need something to drink in.

Just trying to figure out the rules here.  if there are two people in the same uniform it can be generic.  If you only see one person in it you have to do that person?

That is a lot of nice work Philo.  It could be cleared up with a phone call by the right person to Lucasfilm.

Back it down a level Bob.  We have had our rules (as Mark just posted) for quite some time - a phone call won't matter.

We are ALL on the same side here - it is an excellent costume that is a shame he can't ware "au natural" and has to be Hux - but that is the way it is right now.  The current LMO's have ruled.  Arguing with us here just makes you look like a bit of a jerk - and we know you're know, so take a step back and a breath.  Go to them and argue with them, and I will wish you the best of luck.  I'd like to see a non-Galen RD officer as well, but I know under current LMO rulings, that won't happen.  It wasn't in the movie.

Considering the vastness of the empire, he cannot be the sole science officer for research & development.

Looking forward to the blue-ray of R1 for more images.

Common sense tells us this, but our CRL's are based on screen and cartoon and comic evidence.  So to make it generic we most likely will need proof.  If you don't believe me, see the Generic FO General thread.

  9. Cool. :)

Most of the arguments stemmed from the believe that the code cylinders indicated rank too - there's an old file out there that has multiple ranks with the same badge, different number of dosimeters.  I'm glad to see we're abandoning that garbage.  There was zero proof for it anyway.

I think the Krennic apartment scene rank bar is amber and red, hopefully the bluRay will prove it one way or the other.

Krennic apartment scene is the same rank as the opening, 6 Red.  Galen has 4 Amber 1 Red.

As for other ranks than the 3 in ANH, there are several in the comics, a few in Rebels, and R1 had at least 1 new one that I'm aware of - what those permutations are off the top of my head I'm not sure, but if the OP wants to check the Official Rank Bar Guide thread in General Discussions, the latter pages they're working on a new list.

What we know, what think, what we can prove.

Can you please notate on it which is which?  I've seen some recent arguments on FB that the guid BJ put out is completely wrong because we "know" there had to be other ranks, so they extrapolate out and yell at everyone they're wrong.  It'd be nice if we're doing this to have a list of Known from movies, known from comics, and then "possible assumptions."

As the LMO said, no matter what text we find in a book or what an actor, director or anyone else states, without a sequence of hi def pics, he won't create a CRL for a Generic General.  Do I like that?  NO, but the buck stops with the LMO.  Our only hope would be production photos or any additional deleted scenes surface.

So what you're saying is we need to get Pablo drunk and get access to the vault at Celebration.

    Got it boss. :)

Expensive? do they really seem expensive to some?

Depends on the exchange rate.  Right now for two of his it's around $65 USD.  When I bought my first two it was close to $85 with the exchange rate.  The fact the dollar stopped tanking (for now) vs. other currencies is helpful, but with all the comments coming from DC, it's possible we would see something like $100 for two in the near future.

Love Philo and his dosimeters, but it would be helpful if we got someone on this side of the pond making them too.

Anyone of you going to celebration and wants to buy one for me? (if one person can buy more than one) :D

Well....   I know a guy in Germany...  well, the old CO :P
I'm thinking it would be easier for him to bring something back to Germany and mail than me to mail from the US, but if push comes to shove and you can't find anyone else, let me know.

I just took a look and found something interesting in the visual dictionary.

    The first sentence about Hux.

"General Hux is an officer of the First Order [...]"

So according to that the title "General" is not that right, isnt it? Maybe it is more like the "Captain" of Captain Phasma.

Hux is with Phasma and Kylo Ren at the top of the hierarchy, maybe thats why they needed something special for Hux' name.

Later in the book it is stated that there are "officers"

Could be, but they do have Lieutenants, so I can believe he really is a General.

Wampa doesn't have any hats in stock at the moment.  And they weren't perfect, to be honest.

If I was still in the market, and needed one on a semi-timely manner, I'd look at Molli's hats.  Pilot Bay is also a good idea, although I have no idea what their backlog is right now, in terms of how long an order placed today will take to ship, since they also make everything to order.

Disney was only an option for those with the lucky size head that fits, since they're only one size and not adjustable, but since they're out of black, there really aren't any retail in stock options anymore.

The other problem with Wampa is technically, they're only for jump suit setups.  It's the wrong material for an officer hat.  I would imagine PB is the same way, but I didn't realize they were making them so I haven't looked into them.

Don't take it personally, their answers are most of the time quite short, or at least the answers i've got ;)

Have to keep in mind English is not their first language - when I reply to someone in French I tend to keep it short if it's a business email so I don't screw up and put a word that doesn't mean what I think it means. :P
