That should be in its own thread.   FWIW, they were the best BJ & I could do at the time after hours squinting at the movies, and we were making tons of changes already.  What's the saying?  You should have seen the before pix. LOL

This probably came from the fact (if I were to hazard a guess) that there was a general consensus (as close as one could be had) on the CRL in the discussion thread, and then when it came out the other end the CRL was more closely matching your costume (the specifics on attachments and buttons and the like) and so on.  While I recognize that probably was born from LMO alterations, I can see how someone could possibly assume that you had submitted text as well.

Your WIP is awesome (save one thing - the text color in most of it is hard for this old man to read, but I can pull it into a word doc and fix that so I can read it).

Good to know.  I think the CRL as a whole isn't horrible - like people have said, just needs some tweaks.

And Michael, I'm not sorry you were chosen.  I am sorry if I or anyone else made you feel like we were mad at you - speaking for myself, I'm not.  (If you didn't see, I jumped in immediately on the FB post when someone said yours wasn't accurate.)  I think yours is spot on, and while we might disagree on attachment points or how many snaps are required to seal oneself into the tunic, I will have your back as far as saying that your costume nailed it.

If I made you feel otherwise, my apologies sir.

I also have a serious question - while I know I put it in, if you watch the scene with Krennic yelling at Jynn on the tower, when they go to closeup, he very clearly does NOT have a privacy panel.  You can see 4 eye-hooks and his throat though the small gap.  Is that something we're going to ignore, or at some level do you need to lose the privacy panel?

Uh, yeah...   I have 6 on mine and I'm 6'6".  12 is overkill to the extreme.

I agree on this as well (nice catch, I didn't see either one of these) - I have 4 buttons on mine and it stays in place.  That many and I fear it won't move (or will, but move wrong) - remember, it slid around on him a little as he moved - if you superglue it to the tunic it won't have the same flow (yeah, I know, snaps aren't super glue, but that many and they might as well be).

Actually, the more I think about this the less i like it - I get that this is how the model had his tunic, and if it works for him, great - but ESPECIALLY if they cannot be seen, why does it matter how many there are?  I thought it was about looking screen accurate, not making costume designers stand on their heads?

Fair enough - I still suggest it say "at least" instead of just flat measurements, so it's understood, but I get what you're saying.

Firstly, thank you to everyone who helped in any way, shape or form to get this thing done and approved - I know a lot of us were anxious and are thrilled to see it up.

That said, I wanted to put up what I see are a couple of issues that may show themselves as people go for Level 2 or 3.

Firstly, and I noted this in the CRL discussion thread, but it might have gotten lost:

In the first scene in Rogue One you can see the ammo on his right hip, not in the back.  It was behind the holster but 3 were clearly visible on his right hip from a front shot.  Probably just a phrasing choice, but one that probably needs to be addressed.  (Also, snugly has one g unless the Queen's English misspells that too  but that's just a pet peeve.)

Second, the measurements on the cloak - I know we went back and forth on this during the discussion, but I think it bears further discussion.  One, I think 2 inches on the collar, unless you are short or have a shorter neck (neither of which I do, sadly) is too short - maybe change it to "at least" and note it should be about 2/3rds to 3/4ths up your neck?  I know I measured my collar, and it is 2 inches tall, but it looks entirely too short on me compared to pictures of Ben.

    Third, in the level 2:

I can only comment on myself, but my yoke is about 5.25" wide from collar and the back is 6.5" long from the base of the collar - because I'm 6'6" tall.  Transpose that, and 5.5" could look entirely too long on a much shorter person (one of our Kylos is 5'2", and she is having a horrendous time with the new measurements on the arms).

Those are the only things that stood out to me that might become an issue.  I wanted to put them down when I was thinking about them to make sure I was coherent.

Again, I appreciate all the work done on this - just offering my suggestions.

All CRLs have measurements of one form or another, I personally have never heard of someone taking out a ruler not even I am that strict on accuracy

I agree with the ammo packs however measurements have to be included to give an example of the fact it's a tall collar, We like to think on a shorter person the GML would be switched on enough to realise and if not that's why the DL has access to the GML section on the main forum

Beautiful job. You look very good wearing it. And thank you for providing all of the research and references. I've been following this closely and I am in the process of the same. I'm working with Paskal on Etsy in the Netherlands. I'm hoping everything is as good-looking as yours.

Might be worth adding to remove any possible confusion regarding the length of the bang .

Only in cartoons can people raise their eyebrows 2 inches up

Well, 1/4 or 3/8 it's definitely taller than 2". I think it's wrong if it says 2" and if they insist on that it's just going to end up with a lot of poorly-looking collars. I still believe that it shouldn't have a specific measurement at all and should just say "covers the 2/3-3/4 of the neck". It would look right, and allows for those with different neck lengths to have different sizes. At the end of the day, his costume wasn't an off the rack job even within the Empire (he talks about getting it custom made in Catalyst) so the CRL shouldn't force it to be like other CRLs IMO.

Its a generic art sealer spray, use matte or semi gloss. I get mine in home depot near the primer sprays usually.

    Greetings again IOC,

I want to thank you for your many well thought out questions. It is clear we have a lot of passionate members that care for the IOC. I also would like to thank Bob for his passion as well, it takes a strong person to accept a nomination for a job like this and I thank him for his ideas.

It is clear the main objective of either of us will be the CRL completion. Different methods, but it will get done. What you, as members, need to decide is whether you want someone familiar with the current detachment methods and personnel, or someone that only had 15 posts prior to his nomination. Bob is a great guy and devoted 501st member, I’ve met him a few times now and enjoy his company. I hope we can continue that after the election.

As for Rob Lyth, I’m sorry you didn’t take your nomination and this process as serious as you could have.  I’d hope a person that thought it was necessary to accept a nomination would participate by answering the specific questions provided by our members.  I hope you can join us on the forums and add to the detachment.

I’d like to thank my staff, current and future, for the support and ideas. I look forward to working with you this year. I hope you, the members, give me the opportunity to serve as your Detachment Leader this year. I’m excited to implement the ideas we have for the detachment. The CRL team program will be the first to get our attention. The process is slow, but it is made so much slower by the number of new costumes added by all the new sources. Sure, some of the other detachments have whipped some out too, but they may not have had so many. With that being said, we will make them our priority.

The mentoring/cadet type program is a great approach to get more members active on the forum and to aid new members. It should have been done sooner, but now is a time good as any. We will iron out the details and put out the call for mentors, a much catchier name will be decided upon too. I think we can use at least one of Bob’s ideas, with a twist that is. An IOC Facebook members page is a good idea. But not for official business, but as a social page where members can chat and even gripe in real time. It will be a good place to post breaking news and link members to the forums for the details.

Lastly, I want to thank BJ for his dedication to this detachment for so many years and his friendship. He saw something in me at Celebration 6 and that lead to my appointment as DO and ultimately, Executive Officer. I’m glad you will be available to assist in the future.

I look forward to continuing my service to the IOC.

I know I'm walking in on the tail end of this, and many before me have asked wonderful questions. Congratulations on you all for being it this far, and I'm going to try and start this with a decent lead into the question.

I've been a Legion member now seven years as of the 27th of this month. I've only got one costume, a Bridge Crewman, haven't traveled that extensively, tend to stay in my lane for the most part and not make waves.

This year, some fool nominated me for what you bunch are taking questions for. I declined, one because I have no great desire for leadership, and two because I knew that would be like putting a turtle on a fencepost. But, it did get me thinking that I want to help my only Detachment more.

So, here's the questions: Where do fools like me fit in to the picture? How can we help get from the point A of today to the point B of this time next year?

Thank you for your time, and good luck.
