Alay got a reaction from kman in Bridge Crew Comm Pad
Guess I'm watching ROTJ again... here's all the comm pads I spotted using only the film.

Not the bridge crew, but still a comm dude.

Kinda hard to see.  My crappy eyes make out a red square that looks to be the mysterious "coin" slot badge, as well as a tiny bit of black in the middle that might be a slot or paint.

His brother sitting at the control desk has a better view

This guy has a red square that seems filled in, as well as the white boxes "above" it.  There's something white to the left ("up" relative to the picture) of it as well.  To the bottom of it I see another white blob (left in the picture) which based on it's location makes me think the color scheme is different than the JRS scheme picture.

Okay onto what I think counts as a bridge crew:

Again I see the white box, no slot.  There's something red to the side of it to me.
The olive-brown-gross color button on the bottom left is visible to me.  So I think this comm paint scheme matches the JRS one.

    ROTJ TKs look weird...
Skip ahead through Jabbas whole ordeal, Emperor shows up.  Jerjerodd keeping his eyes forward behind Vader is actually kinda silly.

Next time we see them is when Han and Luke are trying to slip by in Tydirium.

This guy clearly has one, but I can't make out details.

Also, as an aside, I see several crew here with headsets.  Why aren't they allowed for ROTJ L2?

ANH and ROTJ bridge crew shall not wear headsets.
Anyways, the next time we see a comm is on the ground.  Can't really make anything out again here, but still a neat little peak

This AT-ST driver gives a really good view:

Unfortunately the angle isn't good enough to see a notch or not.  He gets beat up and killed before we can see another clear shot.

The last view in the trilogy we get is this one here, but still hard to make out colors or shapes

In conclusion, tough to say using only film refs.  If I had to go with my gut, I'd say geometry wise they're identical, but colors could be different between pads.

Interestingly, the Battlefront 2 renders don't have the notch, but use the previous color scheme:

    I love my vacuformed compads!

It's always a balancing act between screen accuracy and having something look better than screen accurate... the on-screen ones never got the kind of close scrutiny that we get when we troop.  The crisp detail you can get from the resin compads can look awfully nice, for instance.

Still, I've mostly switched to vacuformed ones, for my own costumes, just because I'm an accuracy nut that way.

Looks great!  I agree with Kalani, pull the belt up to your natural waist (belly button height).  Pull it a bit tighter if you need to.

Are you working from a computer or a mobile phone?  If you're working from a computer, try right-clicking on the image and choose "Copy Image Location" (or "Copy Link" or something similar) and paste in the complete link that ends in "jpg" (the actual photo).  Then the Forums will display the image instead of the link.  On a phone, in the Imgur app, you should also be able to copy the link by pressing the button at bottom to share, and there is an option to Copy Link there, too.

I'd recommend you wear your belt a little higher.  The Buckles should usually sit over your belly button, higher than regular pants.  And the silver rivet or snap should be on the other side. (your left side, as you wear it)

    Flight suit is looking great!

Here's my methodology for determining a size.

This seems to be the best picture of veers pretty much face on to the camera.

So I opened this guy in photoshop and zoomed way in

I then used the ruler tool to count the pixels of one of the bottom bar push buttons, at the bottom where it meets the metal.

(I actually did all 4 of them, just to get an average) and it looks to be about 22.5 pixels.
    15
Then I did the same with the metal bar

    Which gave me ~149.5 pixels.

    Now we do 149.5/22.5 = 6.64~

6.64 is the multiplier of how many push button bottoms the aluminum bar length is.  Since we know the push button cover is 12.8mm in width, we can get the aluminum bar with in mm by saying:

    6.64 x 12.8 = ~85mm (84.99, rounding to 85).

Then since I'm a heathen that uses imperial measurements, I'm converting that to inches

So 3 and 1/3" in width is what I'd consider his rank bar overall length.

Reasons why my measurements might be wrong and should be taken with a huge grain of salt:
Everything on set was hand made, so there was likely no official decision it was just "made bigger." Lighting on set. camera bending effects. shadows on the push button. I may have measured wrong / in ways someone may disagree with. However I did the same thing to his dosimeter in the pocket, and it comes out to about 20 pixels, which makes it about correct compared to the actual push buttons.

Someone (Robert?) Identified the actual fan maker that produced that auctioned prop.  It's absolutely not the original used in film.

I've got a lot of opinions about badges, but this is why exact measurements shouldn't ever be in a crl

    Belts on backwards.  Belt boxes.

That holster is kinda tight tho.  Surprised it's so different looking than the mimban one.

Belt on backwards hurt me though.  Any real world military if you put your ribbons on the wrong side or sewed a patch on the wrong arm, I think you'd get one heck of a chewing out.  Belt upside down when you Captain a ship?  Tsk! :p

Upon rewatch, I think you're right.  They definitely have a brighter backing material (or are color corrected in post-processing, more likely) than the OT badges did.  They're very spaced compared to their OT counterparts (and way more spacing than rogue one/solo ever had).

For some reason I can't screenshot disney plus on my PC... screen goes black, or I'd post some identifying shots.

Same haha.  My time as a DL just saw a lot of folks barred over GMLs pulling out rulers and being jerked about wording, so it kinda drilled into my head a different way of looking at CRLs.

    Thanks for pinging me!

Here's my two cents.  Keep in mind while I'm super duper anal about my own costuming standards and measurements and sourcing, I have a sometimes differing opinion than a lot of people as to what should be in the CRL.

We should *not* use sizes as an absolute anywhere in the CRL.  While on screen rank bars definitely used EAO 31 sized (or competitor similarly sized) buttons for Rogue One, if we put in exact sizes anywhere you're gonna have jerk GMLs pulling out rulers to deny people.
Plus if an officer has a 1.1" rank bar backing, or their tiles are slightly too far or too close together, no one especially John Q Public is not going to know or care.
Even more so, sometimes you get people are extreme sizes.  A 4' 6" person rocking a standard sized rank bar might look really wonky compared to an appropriately scaled one.  I'd rather our verbiage (especially at basic approval) be inclusive of that.

These are the kind of things that should be listed on a resource page / research page, not a CRL.  For a CRL:

    * Approximately 1" backing, with a metal appearance.
    * Translucent tiles, sized appropriately.  Approximately 1/2" width by 3/4" height, with approximately 1/8" depth.
*On screen ones were 12.7mm x 19mm x 3.2mm (or whatever EAO et all size them at, I don't have the spec handy.)
    * Spacing between the rank bar tiles should be minimal, but present (approximately 3.5mm?) with little to no spacing at the end of the bar.

I really really don't like the licensed source note.  Call it single row and have a field day.  Just say Blue / Red / OrangeYellow is appropriate I think.  Otherwise we split hairs on what's real, whats canon, whose feelings are hurt because some artwork or something had a configuration they liked... This isn't really level one stuff to me.

I think the rest is fine on rank bars.  I do suggest you use words like "Has the appearance of" or "Emulates the appearance of" for metal and push buttons.  I am of the mind we should never specify or require materials.  I mean if someone has a polished cold cast 1" backing to their rank bar that looks indistinguishable from a piece of aluminum, I don't think we should say no.
