I imagine this is a simple addition to "Optional Accessories" for the Navy Trooper - rank bars and code cylinders. Then, when/if we apply for Level 2 and 3, the correct combinations will need to be met just as all our other officers.
 
In terms of straight vs. jodhpur, I would imagine jodhpur for this combination considering the rank and cylinders (Staff Officer with a helmet, basically). Unfortunately, only a behind-the-scenes photo will tell for this one.

To the IOC members that took the time to actually go to the 501st Forums and vote for the candidate of their choice, I salute you.

For Robert: You stated you had a plan for all 6,000 members in the legion to have an officers costume. How is this monetarily feasible? Why would you want everyone to have a certain costume when some members are obviously not interested in IOC? How do you propose to force members of an all volunteer charity / costuming group to add another costume?
 
I would also like to know about the "training" you propose for members of the IOC. Again, this is a costuming group. I myself have several times helped assist new members in how to act the part, as many other experienced members of the IOC have. In what training are we lacking?
 
Lastly, and this is an observation as well as a question, this forum is composed of many members, staff and otherwise, who care deeply about these costumes and the IOC. I spend a lot of time here. Joining this group without so much as an introduction, then attacking this forum has caused a lot of animosity. You have no idea the work that goes on here and could not possibly know what we do wrong or right. You have been a member of the 501st for ten years and have not even looked at what we are doing. Then saying another detachment leader asked you to come here and take over causes more animosity. As Kris asked, who is this detachment leader? If that is how this person works, by going behind the back of current staff and asking you to take over, then he or she is not qualified to run a detachment and is a poor leader indeed. So, instead of attacking us as a group, how are you going to convince us you actually care about this forum, this group and the work the members have done to make this the great detachment it already is? Why should we continue to listen to you?

To rif on this question, considering that Facebook is not available in several countries the Legion is in, how would you address the needs of those users?  You will also need to have 3 layers of security, as there are 3 layers of forum access, or more if you include staff.
 
The fact that Facebook is not accessible by all Legion members would - unless I'm missing something - prevent it's use for the purpose you suggest.  Or am I missing something?
 
Sorry, but it's not clear to me how a closed FB group solves the issue of CRL's not getting completed.  For instance how would it solve pictures not being submitted?  How would it solve faster approval via the LMO team?
 
 

I am a strong believer in leading by example. To that end, I believe that the leader of any of our Detachments should strive for the highest quality possible in regards to their costumes and screen accuracy. The Executor/Imperator program is a great way to recognize those achievements, and I personally believe the system does very well. That being said, here are my questions:
 
1) For Rob and Robert: I see that neither of you have any recognition in either of those programs for higher levels of costume accuracy. Do you have specific reasons for your lack of participation? Are your personal costumes up to a high standard and do they match what we see on-screen in an exemplary fashion? What are your likes/dislikes about the Executor/Imperator program, and what, if anything, will you change should you be selected to lead?
 
2) For Mark: In contrast, you have multiple costumes that meet the standards of the Imperator/Executor program. Do you believe the program is working as intended? What, if anything, would you change about it?

The MUR is the same

So, I've been helping out with forum sigs over at the Rebel Legion forum, and suddenly, I realized, I could offer my services, should they be required, to my fellows over at the IOC, as well .

With some input from the admin staff, we could probably come up with one, or more, standardized formats, and churn out some nice sigs for people.

I can do animated .gif sigs too, and should soon have one ready for display, however, these do take more time.

I actually got my hands on one after so many years of searching. I've been a huge fan of Star Wars Lego for a long while, and I'm having a total blast with all 3000 something pieces of this thing!
 

I have at least 20 stormtrooper minifigs, the newer Millennium Falcon, and the older TIE fighter.  I intend to pick up an X-Wing at some point to round out the collection, which is probably where I'll have to stop, because my wife has already lost her patience...
 
What I REALLY want is one of those giant star destroyers...

I had to clear my line officer first with IOC to ensure it met the CRL, then went on to add the AT-AT Commander armour to that CRL spec and cleared with ACD. But the spec was basically the line officer CRL, plus the AT-AT Commander armour (unless I missed something?).
 
It would be nice to be part of IOC with the armour too, but Im guessing its too much crossover and by placing it at ACD it becomes definitive.
 
Hmmm. Good question. 

I enjoyed the novel. I think its characterization of Vader is fascinatingly different. He clearly isn't as experienced and confident as when we see him in Empire. He also manages not to kill people who fail him but instead pulls an EU Thrawn when promoting that stormtrooper cmdr who completed a job well after botching several smaller ones which I don't feel were really his fault in the first place. It's an odd characterization that I chocked up to him still being closer to Anakin Skywalker than ESB Darth Vader.
 
I enjoyed all the officer cameos like Yularen as well and that the novel doesn't hesitate to show why Tarkin thinks that what he's doing is right and give us some insight into his childhood as to why he would become so hardened. I actually really enjoyed the flashbacks.
 
I did read Lost Stars right after and enjoyed it even more.

I was the opposite i was not keen on the flashbacks, im really glad Tagge was in it , really looking forward to Thrawn now

I'm glad to see this discussion happening. I started putting together a Krennic costume right after the trailer came out, and have been refining it ever since. I agree with the draft CRL written on the first post. I'm sure this will be refined as more trailers and the film is released. Here is a picture of me at the Star Wars exhibit from San Diego Comic-Con yesterday. My costume is based the ISB tunic, and will need to be modified. The cape is an ongoing work in progress. I'm thinking about starting a build thread on the Imperial Officers forum, unless anyone can think of a better place to put it?

I have discussed the same issue with a couple of fan made cap suppliers, and come to a common ground with one of the UK suppliers.
There is a little variance in the cap peaks we see in the films, but on the whole I agree with you. My rule of thumb was the visor is just over half the height of the crown.
I think the main 'problem' stems from there being a pattern in the public domain and people have used this verbatim. Another problem is that caps are pretty tough to make in the first place. Getting anything half decent is a major achievement. I would like to see more accurate caps, especially the stitching on the visor, the gap between the concentric stitching can be a little too wide.
I have worked to help make improvements to the uniforms and helped raise the standards of the costumes produced, but don't have the time to do everything. I have found if you champion a cause, provide a convincing argument, produce an example, do it well people will follow your lead. This has been on my to do list, but other tasks have taken priority. If you could pick up the baton and approach one of the common cap suppliers who's cap is a 'little off' and work with them to improve the accuracy that'd be great.

...if I could only find those stolen Death Star plans!...

Oh, that's quite nice! I will have to order myself a bag to put in the armour tote.

Hopefully we'll see a split second of Tarkin.
