What Sean said.  JRS and SpecOps are sharing that one.  I'm not sure about SpecOps, but JRS has a draft CRL you can peruse at your leisure.

As das as I can tell spec ops finished the crl for the heavy inferno. At least the draft is finished so far. Everything ready for the release.

  3. The uniforms of star wars are based on original historical uniforms, mainly form the german military of 2nd world war.

The uniform where made by a company in england famous for its uniforms. Some of the uniforms where made new other where lend  from the stock and just adjusted to look alike or similar. So ther is a big difference in quality, look and fit at least for some uniforms in the film.

I'm a professional seamstress since 19 years and educated Patternmaker with my own studio since 10years. I'm Interested in costume history ever since. I have several books on this topic and made ton's of reasearch on historical uniforms even before I joined the 501st. I draw all patterns by myselfe based n the historical research and original pics.

Based on historical uniform pattern construction the waist line seam ist correct as well as several darts such as the one in center front at the collar and the other darts which are comming from the waist line. Also severeal seam lines like the 2nd short dividing seam at the back.

All these darts and seams are neccessary for a good pattern construction to ensure the perfect fit of the uniform. Since these uniforms have always a very thight fitting.

Also the requested lining is correct. Most uniforms where at least partly lined. Most of the higher standard uniforms where fully lined.

I will upload some drawings of historical uniforms and breeches tonight so you can see what I am talking about.

All the uniforms I made for my fellow 501st members I constructed due to my research. They look very very close to the original screen.

The attached pic shows my lates commission for an Admiral Daala uniform.

Antje!  I think I met you guys in London!  I may ask you more about the material you have soon!!

Unfortunately I could not attend in London, but Marc was.

The first run of fabric is already done, It was only for members of our garrison. I still have some on stock for one complete uniform. We are thinking of a 2nd run soon which might be international. We can reorder any time but need to get at least 50 meters togethe for the scale price from last time. Also the Leadtime after ordering is about 4-6 weeks, since its woven and dyed just after placing the orders. Anyway, If anyone is interrested in fabric swatches I have plenty of them.

most of the price of the costume IS the fabric.  Heath Hammond who put together the prototype in 2013 bragged about the finding of the fabric.  He said it was from the last german textile company still in operation that provided Calvary wool to the Imperial Calvary of the Second Reich.  It breaths in warm dry weather and when wet seals in heat.

    .....

Kat, Bob and a few others found the fabric that he likely used and bought every scrap of it.  I hope they make more.  We are going to get started on new uniforms soon... including straight pants for those cocktail parties on Coruscant.

...I have to say I doubt a little bit the story about the fabric, and the fabric mill in germany. And also the price seems a bit high to my opinion.

I'm a german seamstress. Recently together with our current XO Marc ((Paggeldiwwer) we both started a run of cavalry twill in our defined color (RAL 7009) I'm a seamstress now since 19 years, knowing fabic suppliers and mills all around germany. There is still a hand full of mill's with original and modern weaving machines still producing this fabric. German fire fighters dress uniforms as well as german military dress uniforms are still made of this fabric. So this fabric is quiet common in this area. The mill we ordered the fabric is existing since 1644. They are selling by meter wool and wool mix fabrics which they produce themselfes.

Since we made a big order of nearly 70meters we recieved a scale price of 40€ per meter for wool 70%/ trevira 30% mix cavalry twill fabric. 100%wool with the same weave is also available for 50€ per meter when ordering 50meters or more.

We choose the wool mix twill since its full washable compared to the 100%wool. It's a mint quality fabric wich is awesome when wearing and when working with it.

So if there is interest in this fabric just let me know
