as @Hoda cited above, the reason for denying this costume is not a matter of policy, it is a judgement call. They are perfectly able to approve this by the rules provided there.

This is not a matter of accuracy. Accuracy is hitting your target, doing something to a standard.  This is about setting the standard when there is only so much information.  This is about assuming what would be on the lower back of this costume (we have references for the upper back).  So what would be on the bottom back of a uniform like this?  What can we infer?  A princess seam? A single seam? A part in the back like a suit jacket? Given that the suit is black on black even if we had a clear photo, we may not see it.  So we do what we do with every costume that we have no laid hands on: we guess.

This is nothing new, it has happened with most of our costumes and many popular ones.  We guess on colors, pockets no pockets, the nature of seams.  I have heard LMOs argue that their perception should take precedent over what things actually are.  Even when we get all of the details right, there are many questions on how it should look on different sized people, tall, short, thin, heavy, men, women.  That is why we have been engaging with tailors that make these things.  This way they can give an informed professional opinion on why something may be a certain way, not the opinion of someone who doesn't know what they are looking at.  If you are not making these costumes with your own hands, if you can't do that, your ability is limited.  That is not a failing, but an acknowledgement that not everyone can be all things.

The 451 costume will be adjusted in the weeks to come.  As a consequence of this the Army Operations CRL may be delayed until those changes go through, because it is the exact same costume with a different colored tunic.  We get requests for adjustments to different costumes all the time.  And we look at the evidence.  Rarely is anything left to our interpretation.  If it is clear cut it is not our call to make, it is our duty to implement it.  The personalities of who are in offices should not govern this, evidence and precedence should govern how things are made and released.  The evidence is here in these earlier pages of the thread.  The precedence is here with other costumes with less info being released by this LMO office this year.

Development is a never ending process.  When we award someone a level 2 or 3 award, it is not saying they are perfect, it is saying they meet the highest requirements we have at this time.  That may irritate some people to hear that, but that is how it is.  We don't yank certifications if new details come out.  We even grandfather what they have cleared.  What changes are the details of the CRL.  And in many cases the changes are so minor that they would only affect level 2 or 3 anyway.

And that is what would likely be here with the Sith Eternal Officer.  Any new information would likely only affect a level 2 or 3.  This has happened many times before with many other costumes.  This is the history of the legion and how it has always been.  There are dozens of examples to illustrate this.

As for our head LMOs, I am sure they can answer for their offices.  They do not need others answering for them, especially when it is not members of their staff or that department defending their decision.  Even if their "staff" made this decision, it is because the head LMOs  that gave them the power to do so.  And therefore, the head LMOs that answer for it.  At the end of the day it is their policy and their responsibility.  There are questions that we would appreciate them answering.

Yup. That's right. The Inferno Squad CRL is currently being worked on as a joint JRS-SpecOps CRL. They wont release the CRL until after the game is released so that they have all the reference materials they'll need to ensure accuracy

    Hi @ all,
i just checked the "IOC Costume Resource List"- thread and saw our respectable amount of ressources for all the parts needed there. But i thnk something important is missing.   We do have a list of vendors where you can get parts or complete sewn uniforms, but what about seamstresses and tailtors? As long as you didn´t sew it yourself it´s the best way to get a perfect fitting uniform. And that´s the good news, we already know them. Either because they´re member of the Legion/IOC, or members of the IOC have there costume made by them. And you know what you can get by simple looking at the approved costumes they made.  So why don´t we share such important ressources?

I know two tailors in Germany. These Ladys are here on the IOC as well. Maybe they want to get added. One made at least one custume that already got cleared L3. I will ask them if they want to get listed.

In my Garrison we are three future Line Officers who ordered fabric at the run of the German Garrison. The more we are, the cheaper the fabric costs will be. As far as I know Marc (he got just awarded for 25 troops) here at the forum is the man to talk with.

Yes, I am here.  Even though Antje Walzel an I have not yet offered the fabric here. But if the IOC allows this kind of order (collective pre-paid-order) we could start this here too.

The uniforms of star wars are based on original historical uniforms, mainly form the german military of 2nd world war.
The uniform where made by a company in england famous for its uniforms. Some of the uniforms where made new other where lend  from the stock and just adjusted to look alike or similar. So ther is a big difference in quality, look and fit at least for some uniforms in the film.

I'm a professional seamstress since 19 years and educated Patternmaker with my own studio since 10years. I'm Interested in costume history ever since. I have several books on this topic and made ton's of reasearch on historical uniforms even before I joined the 501st. I draw all patterns by myselfe based n the historical research and original pics.
Based on historical uniform pattern construction the waist line seam ist correct as well as several darts such as the one in center front at the collar and the other darts which are comming from the waist line. Also severeal seam lines like the 2nd short dividing seam at the back.
All these darts and seams are neccessary for a good pattern construction to ensure the perfect fit of the uniform. Since these uniforms have always a very thight fitting.
Also the requested lining is correct. Most uniforms where at least partly lined. Most of the higher standard uniforms where fully lined.

I will upload some drawings of historical uniforms and breeches tonight so you can see what I am talking about.

All the uniforms I made for my fellow 501st members I constructed due to my research. They look very very close to the original screen.
The attached pic shows my lates commission for an Admiral Daala uniform.

Unfortunately I could not attend in London, but Marc was.
The first run of fabric is already done, It was only for members of our garrison. I still have some on stock for one complete uniform. We are thinking of a 2nd run soon which might be international. We can reorder any time but need to get at least 50 meters togethe for the scale price from last time. Also the Leadtime after ordering is about 4-6 weeks, since its woven and dyed just after placing the orders. Anyway, If anyone is interrested in fabric swatches I have plenty of them.

...I have to say I doubt a little bit the story about the fabric, and the fabric mill in germany. And also the price seems a bit high to my opinion.
I'm a german seamstress. Recently together with our current XO Marc ((Paggeldiwwer) we both started a run of cavalry twill in our defined color (RAL 7009) I'm a seamstress now since 19 years, knowing fabic suppliers and mills all around germany. There is still a hand full of mill's with original and modern weaving machines still producing this fabric. German fire fighters dress uniforms as well as german military dress uniforms are still made of this fabric. So this fabric is quiet common in this area. The mill we ordered the fabric is existing since 1644. They are selling by meter wool and wool mix fabrics which they produce themselfes.
Since we made a big order of nearly 70meters we recieved a scale price of 40€ per meter for wool 70%/ trevira 30% mix cavalry twill fabric. 100%wool with the same weave is also available for 50€ per meter when ordering 50meters or more.
We choose the wool mix twill since its full washable compared to the 100%wool. It's a mint quality fabric wich is awesome when wearing and when working with it.

So if there is interest in this fabric just let me know
