I would think so.  They're not overly baggy.  Doesn't look like they have a knife-sharp crease down the front (those can be hard to get rid of).

I would probably recommend carefully cutting away the Dickie's logo tag in the back, just in case the wind flips your tunic up.

Hi everyone, So i was searching around for another officer costume to work on and I was thinking about making the ISB version 1, I have the belt, hat and Chelsea boots. Where would I find the tunic and pants for Version 1. Also can the ISB wear the raincoat?

I'm not certain if there is a commercial source for the v1 tunic.  You may need to have that commissioned, or alter one that was originally the yoke style.

    https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:ID_isb

The v1 pants are just plain black pants.  You can buy something local commercially.  Just plain black pants.  No creases or pleats (unless the pleats aren't visible)

I believe the CosplaySky tunic is pure white, which doesn't work for v1, which requires ecru/cream, so you'll need another source.

ISB does not *currently* have any raincoats, but there are grainy leaked photos from the set of the upcoming Andor show which suggest that ISB may be getting white trenchcoats.  We'll have to wait and see what comes out.

Are you working from a computer or a mobile phone?  If you're working from a computer, try right-clicking on the image and choose "Copy Image Location" (or "Copy Link" or something similar) and paste in the complete link that ends in "jpg" (the actual photo).  Then the Forums will display the image instead of the link.  On a phone, in the Imgur app, you should also be able to copy the link by pressing the button at bottom to share, and there is an option to Copy Link there, too.

I'd recommend you wear your belt a little higher.  The Buckles should usually sit over your belly button, higher than regular pants.  And the silver rivet or snap should be on the other side. (your left side, as you wear it)

    Flight suit is looking great!

Thanks for posting the pictures here.

Thanks for the compliment but I only did the make up.

Uniform and Belt tailored by MazCave https://etsy.me/3t9G542

Rank Badges and Codezylinder by Klaus Frässstüberl https://www.facebook.com/klausfraesstueberl/

Wig (forgotten the seller) and Boots (Cavallo 2nd Hand) ebay.

    Brown contacts for daily use

For  CRL I would put to disscussion if necessary the code cylinder all in silver with option blue cap (sometimes it is there sometimes not)?
Sideburns mandatory or is it enough as I did it?
    Gloves optional or mandatory?

Just curious, did MazCave use the German Garrison's special fabric run to make the uniform for you?  That doesn't look like their usual fabric.  (They're tailoring is impeccable as always)

I would not say the sideburns are mandatory.  They're not even always especially pronounced, comparing the cover photo above to some of the other shots.  Your wig is excellent as it is.

Normally gloves are optional.  It looks like he usually wears them, in the panels above, but on the cover shot Bob posted he is not wearing gloves, so I suspect sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't.  So perfect item for being Optional.  That said, I haven't read all the comics.  If that one cover shot is the ONLY time we see him without gloves, I could see an argument for making them required.  I don't feel strongly about that either way, though.

Hello Ladies and Gentleman, I was reading with interest this thread, may be I can help you with the gray flightsuit confection, this is the flightsuit that I made for me, you can look the details in this youtube link:

    https://youtu.be/S1VyICdNfUQ

I am using same pattern that I use for the R1/SOLO flightsuits in the JRS Detatch, the only missing part there is the patches

    I hope this help

    Giovanni

Looks very nice, do you have photos of the gray material you propose using?

Good afternoon, Giovanni Rodiguez here, I think I can help you with this costume, I made a grey flightsuit using the black tie pilot  R1/SOLO patterns,  I made a video to your consideration and hanged in youtube, just check the design, the patterns will be the same to make the black flightsuit in this thread, here the link to check the suit details:

    https://youtu.be/S1VyICdNfUQ

Interesting, looks exactly like the classic flightsuit, only made of nylon material instead of cotton.

Those code cylinder pockets look really deep.

  7. For code cylinders, technically you can use chalk holders, but they need modifications, and they'll only ever be good for basic approval, not higher levels (which are optional but highly encouraged).  Philo sells perfect replica dosimeters which are perfect all the way up to Level 3.

    ANH_staffcylinders.jpg

If you want to go the chalk holder route there's a good tutorial on the modifications here:

For rank bars, I *highly* recommend getting a proper pushbutton rank bar, and not the acrylic chips that cost nearly the same amount but again, are not very accurate and only approvable at the basic level.  I'd recommend BaileyBuilds or RankBadger on Etsy for great rank bars (BaileyBuilds also has a sales thread here on our forums, look for Alay's post).  Alternatively you can make them yourselves by buying the correct pushbuttons (there are threads here with links to sources), but if you're just starting out it's a lot simpler to buy them from established vendors.

  8. Looks great, let's get it live!

Bob, forums don't support the webp graphics file format.  I'd recommend getting a (usually free) utility to convert webp to regular JPGs, since pretty much only Chrome and Firefox support webp, nothing else.  (Not even Photoshop, last I checked)

(You can probably just delete the post that had them embedded since they don't show anyway)

  9. Just adding a JPG of the PDF rank chart Bob linked, so people don't necessarily have to download it to see what everyone is talking about. :)  (The text is still more crisp in the PDF, but this is handy, too)

Once Bob's next round of updates are complete, which he's working on now, I'll massage it into a prettier layout and we'll archive this entire thread and make a new one, so the OP has a more accurate / complete chart.

  10. Sorry to take so long to get back to this.  No one else has been commenting on what we have so far, so I've worked on refining what I already had.  At this point, I'm nearly happy with what we have here, with the exception of the wording describing the belt buckle corners.  Any suggestions or comments before we bring in the LMOs?

Here's my methodology for determining a size.

This seems to be the best picture of veers pretty much face on to the camera.

    i4yiu4D.png

So I opened this guy in photoshop and zoomed way in

    EM9G2qh.png

I then used the ruler tool to count the pixels of one of the bottom bar push buttons, at the bottom where it meets the metal.

    vJaCN0t.png

(I actually did all 4 of them, just to get an average) and it looks to be about 22.5 pixels.

    15

Then I did the same with the metal bar

    tr4aVFS.png

    Which gave me ~149.5 pixels.

    Now we do 149.5/22.5 = 6.64~

6.64 is the multiplier of how many push button bottoms the aluminum bar length is.  Since we know the push button cover is 12.8mm in width, we can get the aluminum bar with in mm by saying:

    6.64 x 12.8 = ~85mm (84.99, rounding to 85).

Then since I'm a heathen that uses imperial measurements, I'm converting that to inches

    AGaHGqm.png

So 3 and 1/3" in width is what I'd consider his rank bar overall length.

Reasons why my measurements might be wrong and should be taken with a huge grain of salt:

    • Everything on set was hand made, so there was likely no official decision it was just "made bigger."
    • Lighting on set.
    • camera bending effects.
    • shadows on the push button.
    • I may have measured wrong / in ways someone may disagree with.

However I did the same thing to his dosimeter in the pocket, and it comes out to about 20 pixels, which makes it about correct compared to the actual push buttons.

"Close enough for government work", as they say. ;)

    Works for me!

  12. Note the surplus Soviet parade boots sold by Antigua House (or direct from SovietBoots.com ... but Antigua House is a safer bet because they provide photos of the actual boots you'll get) are not *technically* the right kind of boots for an Officer.  We allow them because they're the most budget-friendly option by far, and at least they're real leather.  They'll pass up to Level 2, for now, but not Level 3, because they're just not the right kind of boots.

    Hello Adam,

If these are in your price range, Hessen Antique carries size 13. These are the boots I have & highly recommend them.

    https://hessenantique.com/riding-boots/

Hessen boots tend to run small, however (opposite of what their website claims) ... I'm not sure I'd recommend them for size 13 feet.

I would take a look at CrowProps, for people with size 13 and above feet.

    https://crowprops.bigcartel.com/product/black-officer-boots-without-zipper

(I'd request a real leather sole instead of the synthetic one)
