  1. The silver on the ribs of the Andor-style MSP5 is not weathering, it's very clean and deliberate.  I'd clean that up a bit, personally, if that's what you're going for.  And maybe darken down the handle even more like dark dark brown weathered to nearly black.

Otherwise, nice job!  I'll admit I don't completely love the weathering on the end of the muzzle, but to each their own.  That aside, I like it!  It probably helps that it reminds me of mine LOL

  2. That's correct.  Nice reference, but absent confirmation, it's only good for fun while cosplaying for Halloween or a Con, not the CRL.

If someone manufactured (3D printed?) that top bit and slapped it on top of a Healthways Plainsman base and kept it holstered, however... that does match onscreen reference.  FWIW.

Where did you get your boot bag?  That looks really nice!

Amazon, originally, but the last few times I looked, they didn't have this exact one anymore.  Last time I needed another I ended up tracking them down on online equestrian supply shops.  This is the "Centaur" brand "tall boot carry bag".  They have a bunch of plaid ones (f that's your thing... Amazon still has those, last I checked), and some nice plain black ones.  (and plain blue and plain green, if I recall). Last shop I bought from was "Farm House Tack", if that helps.  Good luck!

Obviously I tarted it up a bit with some iron on graphics and a cog. ;)

  4. My goodness, Crow Props website has gotten even worse... I wouldn't have believe it possible.

He appears to have dropped the listing for the officer boots with no back zipper.  He really loves that back zipper, despite the CRL explicitly disallowing zippers other than the inside zippers.  (you know, like normal boots have). That said, their whole schtick is custom boots.  Just tell him you don't want that back zipper, or to put in a normal zipper on the inside.

Krennic boots have no zipper, and are good to L3 for all non-saga officers.  They're NOT good for OT officers, however, since that adjustment strap (which is present on basically all non-saga costumes) was not present on any OT costumes.

    Basically, Gio really needs to:

    1) Put back the listing for a no-zipper plain boot, for OT costumes and drop that back zipper nonsense.

    2) Make a new listing for a variation of the Krennic boot with a NORMAL (not "back hided" FFS) inside the leg zipper, which would be perfect for L3 (and screen accurate) for basically all non-saga officers.

  5. Honestly this detail looks enough light the normal seam that exists on many pants.  There's a seam right below the knee, just above where the lacing eyelets start.  It's pretty common to see them poking a bit above the boot line... sometimes you can even see the first lacing eyelets.  I almost wonder if the pants were originally made for a shorter actor and they decided not to bother changing them when he turned out as tall as he is.

Regardless, if we call out this one at all, I'd lean towards L3, because that's going to be a fully custom pair of pants for anyone, which is going to make that *really* hard for 99% of our members.  But since it looks so much like the normal seam (and may even be just that, and slightly twisted pant legs), which we've never called out in a CRL before, I'm not sure this merits baking into the CRL.

Tarkin's pants for reference.  Note the horizontal seam just below the knee and just above the lacing closure on the lower leg.

Most of the higher end officer uniform makers have this same basic construction on their lower legs, including MazCave, WampaWear, Anovos/Denuo Novo, Magnoli, and Clothears.  Some use lacing at the bottom, some use buttons, but it's all the same intent.

WampaWear pants for comparison.  The same seam is present around the back of the leg just below the knee, but they use buttons instead of laces, under the boots.

  6. Calf high is not the same as knee high officer boots.  Mid-calf and calf high is saying the same thing.  The existing language is correct, and can stay as it is.

I'm not against adding the alternate code cylinder, but a member needs to submit a photo of their personally-owned cylinder for the CRL... photos found on the internet don't apply.  All CRL photos are of member-owned and submitted parts.

If Ezra makes some, I'm happy to buy one and submit a photo LOL

For the sake of future proofing the CRL as much as possible. There may be one costumer who will try to go for the staggered height code cylinders and a GML that may not approve it. I'd say just to add one line that say something in the order of "code cylinders of varying height may be allowed"

We've never governed the height of code cylinders in a CRL.  No need to start now. :)

Also worth noting his code cylinders are all kinds of stupid compared to others.  I *suspect* they're just aluminum tubes with clips glued on them as they look unlike any replica or real accurate dosimeter I've ever seen.

They're standard OT dosimeter style with standard brass (-ish) clips.

Hit me up privately if you'd like to discuss. ;)

I think my problem is that since I am a woman, they only offer me gloves for women and they are a bit too long. I will visit the store again and ask for men's gloves, and definitely ask if they have the Dents Skyfall gloves.

I'm a bit ridiculous as even though I had Ravel gloves that I really liked, I eventually decided spent the money to buy the Dents, too, because I really felt I should have them and be able to speak to the comparison with certainty.  LOL

And after having bought them... I think I slightly prefer my Ravel gloves.  Only slightly more, but there you go.  And Ravel is less than half the price.

Note that Ravel will do custom gloves for a small extra charge, if you feel you need shorter fingers than on their standard sizes.

Here are the Ravel gloves that I bought for my wife, for this same costume (Level 3 approved):

Have we managed to source the fabric for this to a colour standard and cavalry weight of material that the UKG will approve? Is there a UKG CRL on here that can advise? :)

UKG is a bit unique in how they work, different to the rest of the Legion.  Your best bet is to contact the Garrison and get assigned to a UKG armorer who can advise you.

Has anyone ever ordered from WhimsyCosplay on Etsy? They have an Isb tunic for decent price just don’t know if it’s approvable.

Avoid.  They resell cheap Cosplay costumes with details that are no approvable.

Before I go throwing around money on the wrong items, are these correct for the Line Officers?

Crow Props boots are fine, if they fit you, but unless you need the custom custom sizes they specialize in, I'd look at Hessen Antiques first.

If you do go with Crow, get the boots without the "back hided zippers".

    Two Questions

First-  Has anyone submitted this to be added as an optional accessory in the CRL yet?

Second- If it does get added, since it is in universe, could it be carried by say a Bridge crew during a troop?

Worry about getting chewed out by your commanding officer, perhaps, but it's there, in-universe, as far as that's concerned LOL

And yes, walking around a troop with a cup of caf is a joy.  ;)

    Hi,

I'm just curious. Can the boots have a seam along the front?

No, front seams are not allowed.  I believe we just recently updated the CRL on this to eliminate confusion on that.  They're not right for the boots, so they should not have been allowed in the first place, but some older people had been approved with it anyway.  They're still grandfathered in, but should not have been approved in the first place.

I found this could be also a good solution for our officer caps (Bag for baseball caps) I have ordered one, because one can attach a strap on it.
on Aliexpress for about $15 + shipping

I've been trying to find that case!  I saw one in a random FB ad some time ago, but it was like free if you buy 5 baseball hats (nope) or $39 on it's own, so I sort of back burnered that project.  Do you have the link to it on AliExpress?

Although I'll hold off ordering until you get yours and confirm an Imperial hat fits inside...

These are screencaps from the old Star Wars Galaxies game.  Some notes before them:
The game NEVER showed Officers with rank badges or code cylinders.  Some servers later unofficially modded them to have those.  This was an old game though so there were limitations at the time.

ALL officers wore the same sorta-gray-sorta-not uniform.  They were obviously meant to imitate the on screen color but a feldgrau wasn't really possible at the time.

Tough call to make... I do feel like a grayish green was possible, even with the more limited color palette of the time.  It looks Feldgrau on the box cover in the OP's original thread, though, so I agree Felodgrau was at least an option.  Perhaps allow both Feldgrau and gray?  Especially I know a bunch of people still have CosplaySky gray officer uniforms that don't really have a home anymore, since gray was changed to olive green, many years back.

If I may add, and this is quite a humble opinion, but where it refers to being the appearance of wood, it may just be me on this but they seem to be trying to make it appear as not wood as possible? Every shot, at least to me, makes it look like the models they used were wood or wood imitation that they have tried to conceal to make it look more manufactured. Does the CRL mean wood appearance in that it has the ridges as in a real world grip would, or that it should be painted to imitate wood?

Sorry to be a pain, but it feels that if the CRL is worded that way it may give rise to subjective rather than objective opinions on the grips.

This could be me being over cautious though - in my current experience I've not seen or heard of any issues of this kind of thing, but I don't know why but there's something about that particular wording that I would feel would be remiss of me not to mention at least for consideration.

That aside, the rest of it is looking top notch =) Thanks you guys for the diligent efforts!

Wood painted black is... black.  There are other CRLs with similar wording, and I have not seen an issue with it, to date.

I'm not worried about it, but GMLs are always welcome to ask us for clarification, if they're confused.
