  1. EDIT:

    I'm not sure.

Some pictures show zippers up the back which not allowed.  Others show an odd cut at the top with elastic stretch panels, which I'm not sure is approvable.

Those are an interesting find, but I'm not sure about those details..

Nah, that's too long. Go with  3 1/4" x 2 1/4". I'll have to see which CRL (many of ours require belt boxes) we have that's wrong.

He's right, that 4.5" figure is right out of the Staff Officer CRL. (http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:ID_imperial_officer_black)  (The Metric measurement is similarly long)

    Belt Boxes
    For 501st approval:

    • Dimensions are approximately 2 1/2" (63.5 mm) by 4 1/2" (114.3 mm) by 1" (25.4 mm) thick.
    • Two boxes may be worn, one on either side of the belt.
    • Placement of the screw / rivet for the belt boxes should be on the shortest side (top and bottom for vertical belt boxes, left and right for horizontal)
  3. If you're asking about the Soviet boots, the main problem with your specific pair is, yes, the leather is not stiff and straight enough.  The overall problem is they simply aren't riding boots.  They're a different style entirely.  They're "tall black boots" but there's more to it than that, they're simply not the right style of boot for the character.  We allow them to slide, when they're in decent shape, purely for pragmatic reasons.

  4. Parade rest, stern or angry look on your face.  The pointing finger or raised fist (not a "hammer blow" fist, more "shaking my fist in anger" fist) are excellent alternatives.

It's funny how much you miss the options for "things to do with your hands" granted by the E11, when your normal costumes is Stormtrooper armor, LOL!

  5. They can be made to work, depending on the specific boot, and are approvable to Level 2.  I wore Soviet boots for my Executor application.

That said, I would tend to agree with Ben that they are not perfect, and I would hesitate to put additional money into them, over the initial purchase price.  The whole point of the boots is that they are cheap.  If you have to pay a bunch of extra money to modify them, the money would be better spent getting a more accurate boot in the first place.  Buying the Soviet boots and spending significant fees with a cobbler will put you close to the same price as just buying the better boots in the first place.

I'll note, however, that the regular Hessen boots have a relatively narrow calf section.  I had to have mine stretched... and I did NOT need to have my Soviet boots stretched.  If the Soviet boots are too skinny, the same problem will almost certainly exist with the Hessen boots.  I seem to recall seeing that Hessen has an option for wider calfs, however.  I would look into that.

I was told today the officers both premier and standard have started shipping, fingers crossed they were telling the truth

Great news!  Once things actually start moving, they tend to be pretty solid.

Of course, since Anovos doesn't offer custom sizing, it remains to be seen how well the new uniforms are going to fit people.  Some will likely be very happy, others, less so.

They pay you in cash? I have an imperial credits card. Don't leave the hangar without it.

Gotta have something to tip the entertainment staff with, right? ;)

Actually, I was serious, if only on a personal level.  My belt boxes are openable, and I keep cash, ID, credit cards, and car keys inside.

I'll shop around for some industrial Velcro this week... hahaha one more thing to add to the list! I feel like this is one of those hobbies that has endless lists. Thanks for the advice!

    Definitely. ;)

Good news is Industrial Velcro is easy to find at JoAnn's, Michaels, and even Home Depot and Lowe's.

If I had to do it over again I'd probably just use sew-in Velcro (no adhesive) and glue it with E6000 but I was in a hurry at the time.  (don't bother with E6000 on the self-adhesive stuff because the glue can't soak in and tried to bond with the adhesive, and fails)

Velcro is such a great idea. Did you have to use a special glue or does the self-sticking Velcro hold up on it's own?

I used Industrial Velcro.  It stuck really well to the inside of the buckle, less so to the belt.  Putting a bunch of weight on the leather belt part for 2 full days seems to have bonded it better, though.  If that doesn't work, I'll try CA glue, meanwhile I'm just careful and it seems fine.

I think that I'll be buying my first pair of gloves. I totally know that leather work is an art form. There are some really beautiful leather works at the farmers market and craft shows her in Edmonton. Good advice on taking a workshop Vincent as I eventually would love to make my own....but that will be in the years to come.

I've looked at Wampa Wear and imperialboots.com but I'm not sure on who to order from.

    Wampa Wear, for sure.

I'm think I'm not going to engage further, other than to say that your understanding of what "vaporware" means appears to be inaccurate.  Just because it's not in your hands at the moment doesn't make it vaporware, simply because you're annoyed with Anovos.

Believe me, I understand annoyance with Anovos.  They have some serious issues they need to fix with their entire business model.
