Finished article as used at Celebration. I'm keeping the real Rimowa handle for a larger case- found this look-alike handle which is slightly smaller, but looks the part. The widget is a plastic folding comb from a cracker with an Imperial code disc bolted through, and stainless hex screws fixing it to the case.

For transparency, I'm posting this here.
I spoke with @Callista about the belt boxes.  I know earlier in the thread there was talk about belt boxes. I initially thought they used Rogue One Boxes and the suggestion was to make the smaller Andor sized boxes a L2 requirement.
The belt boxes in the pictures above are OT sized and too large.  So, we are making sure they get the correct boxes.

    EDIT: The boxes are correct.

Good points, Kalani.    It does make sense your description of how “hobnails” morphed into something that seems to describe the toe-plates.  And I agree that we need to make sure we’re clearly describing only the screen accurate ones.

Perhaps a solution would be to change the photo of the boots in the CRL to a picture of a pair that has the toe-plates.  Then including in the description that those are optional?

Additionally, updating the part of the CRL that references Hobnails to say  “hobnails may be present on the sole of the boots.”?

    Nice video, Bruce!

And yes, we're going to get the CRL updated to correctly differentiate between hobnails and toe caps like you boots have (and mine).  Hobnails are fine, if the boots have them (I wouldn't necessarily recommend them... they're brutal on wood floors, but if your vintage boots have them, that's ok), but we need to explicitly allow the toe caps (as long as they're the right kind), too.

We've proposed that SO many times, but very few other DLs have been open to it.  (Read: I think one, maybe, but even they have been slow on actually coordinating anything)

I believe "hobnails" WERE intended to be in the original language of the CRL, because many boots of this era DO have actual hobnails, and people used to ask.  Hobnails, however, on the bottom of the boot sole, and not on the front.  The hobnail wording should be corrected to refer to the bottom of the soles, not the front.  I swear it used to be correct... I think someone accidentally misunderstood the intent and "corrected" the language, and made it wrong.

Getting to the intent of this post, however, I'm not against adding a new line that addresses the toe plates that are present on some vintage jack boots (including one of my pairs).  We need to be careful with wording, though (and perhaps supply an example photo, if possible), because I can totally see some idiot capping the toes of their boot with some massive metal cap that is not intended.

We want small and unobtrusive, like this: (photo toe plates of my screen-accurate vintage jack boots)

    NOT something like this:

    or this:

@chicken45 Let's add this to the list of small changes needed?

In my opinion yes, it should be attached well.  The screen-used ones don't have visible gaps anywhere (and of course the screen used vinyl cogs are completely bonded to the fabric)

I have seen people use ROUND velcro, for easy removal.  At least that way there are no unattached portions.  I suspect most GMLs are fine with that, since the CRL doesn't currently specify an attachment method (on purpose, for flexibility of options).

Personally I'm not a fan of Velcro for this, though.  Yes, our military uses it, and that's fine for them, but adding two layers of Velcro makes for one THICK looking patch that sticks out quite far from the fabric.  Much farther than we see on screen (especially compared to the vinyl iron-on cogs).  That convenience has a visual cost that I'm not willing to pay, personally.

I love it... but I'll admit I'm not entirely convinced it belongs in the CRL, though.  It's more a general prop than something specific to an Officer's uniform.  (Not saying I'm deadset against it, just that I'm not yet convinced)

If only they had cupholders on their belts, this would be a different story LOL

It does bring up an interesting idea of a CRL dedicated to onscreen props that are specifically allowed to be used on troops.  (Just because I know some garrisons are extremely particular about disallowing anything not in the CRL)

Kat's post above shows the issue with specifying Pantone colors.  And FWIW on my uncalibrated (but not inexpensive) monitor, that color looks almost tan... nothing remotely close to how Meero's uniform looks on screen.

This strikes me a a similar problem to the Anovos protoype Krennic tunic that was on display at Cons for a while.  They bragged about how they had color-matched screen-used tunics for it... the problem is, the screen-used tunics the matched were used in the outdoor scenes on Jedha, and in person under normal lighting, they looked like you took a white ISB tunic and tea-stained it.  NO one wanted that color, unless they were planning to use it to film scenes under the same lighting conditions and color grading used on those Rogue One scenes.  They looked... kinda like how those Pantone tiles are showing on my monitor, frankly.  Only in person.  Not good.

Just to further illustrate the point, using some images from this thread, here your Pantone tile, overlaid on Meero's tunic:

Color grading messes things up pretty badly. when you try to recreate what you see on screen, which is what we're trying to do.

Good to know, yeah, that should be ok with water.  Probably not the dishwasher, but I don't think these cups are dishwasher safe anyway.

Currently debating between the tape and E6000.  E6000 would let the panel hug the cup closer.  And it's fine getting wet.  Seal would need to be *perfect* though, else liquid could get trapped underneath and get moldy.

    Thank you, Robert,

I appreciate you taking the time to summarise the whole situation. I did briefly read over the many replies and pages from the original post, but you have summed it up perfectly.
I am always amazed by the hard work and dedication of some individuals in the Legion, and I’m glad that the costume creator could finally get the resolution she was deserving of.

You  can read the entire history and development here chronologically starting with page one here.  The thread and initial posts was created by an LMO at the same time the visual guides were released with the Rise of Skywalker premier in December of 2019.

In March of 2020 a cadet (a person not a fully approved member of the legion) was announced to be working on a costume.  The cadet started showing their work and progress taking direction and advice from members, the staff and the LMO who started the thread.  By July the body of the costume was mostly finished.  Only a few items remained.

By October 2020, the costume was finsihed and the Cadet was ready to submit.  They were not aware of the process of getting permission from the LMO office prior to starting and no one had explained this to them.  The LMO clears a costume to proceed.... it gets made by the applicant.  A CRL is written and if it is written well and the costume is of sufficient quality it is published as a CRL.

The first visible pass of a CRL text is in February 2021 by the applicant.

A full CRL text is posted by the applicant in March 2021 when my administration came into office.  That is when the questions started about the back seam of the tunic.  Ironically, a German garrison member at this time pointed out the back seams on the Lego minifig of the character (which turned out to be right).   The final CRL text was shown at the end of March 2021.

In April I brought in one of the head LMOs to see what we could do to get things started.  He came in and stated that the LMO office now voted on if costumes could proceed.  This was a new development.  The second thing was he wished we had involved the LMO office from the start (the thread was created by the other head LMO and mostly commented on by him up to that point).  We were then involved that there was not enough views for the CRL to proceed and it was placed on hold.

And the entire thread went bananas including the previous detachment leader calling foul.
Was the LMO in the right to make this decision? Yes, they are the final arbiter.  Was it right.  I didn't think so.  A lot of people didn't think so.  And there was really no indication that this would be stopped until I came into office.

Another LMO who is active in the detachment made a statement of support and a suggestion for getting it cleared.  They took down their post and resigned their position.

Over the next month into May a number of members and staff that had been very pro creation for this costume, came out against it in the same thread.  The blame for this decision was placed on the entire LMO office that voted.  It should be noted that this team is different than this past year's LMO team.  Other detachment leaders that do not have IOC costumes created accounts and came in flummoxed at the decision.   There was arguments over the people that were for the CRL being paused as they were involved in the publishing of CRLs that didn't have the same references.  Old wounds got opened over that and that is why some bring up some CRLs periodically and ask if they can be removed for a lack of references.   Promises to check sources and find out conclusively what the detail of the lower back of the tunic were made, but nothing was revealed.

The following year in 2022 I reached out to our Legion Commanding Officer Justin Sonfield and told him the history of this CRL's development.  I said it was outrageous that this one detail would prevent it from being published.  I stated the cadet was prepared to make any change that would be revealed from finding out this detail.  I asked them if they would speak to LFL about it.  Justin did and explained the situation.  LFL was not able to provide a reference photo, but Justin was able to show them a line of of many tunic back seams.  It was something of a police line up, but LFL fingered the one they said was correct.  It turned out to be the same seams on the LEGO minifig.  The cadet made modifications to their tunic and we were able to submit.  The LMO office accepted it and it was published.  That happened under @mrrikki LMO administration and I have admired his commitment to get things created.  Both him and Justin Sonfield are committed to a pro costume growth platform.

Because a reference was missing for the back, the LCO got the reference and we Green lit the crl. This was a great achievement getting the reference.

Also we then proposed to change the rules so this wouldn’t happen again, this got through council and a vote changing the rules for RLA costumes passed. So a really positive result.

Standard Andor boots are traditional riding boots, flat top, with an adjustment buckle at the top. I'll have to look over my notes and see if I saw any that maybe *didn't* have that adjustment buckle, but last time I looked through, my recollection is there were ZERO examples of Spanish tops... all were flat top.

Is that what you wanted to know?

Yup.  Those appear to have been the base configuration they used for all the boots they had made for Andor.  (Finally stopped recycling boots from other properties, seems like)

Interesting how differently-tailored those two trenchcoats are, given the different people wearing ostensibly the same "model" of coat.  Very noticeable in those last two shots.

Meero's trenchcoat's front lapels start nearly at her neck, actually just above the tunic's collar, and have a small swept-back collar.

Partagaz' lapels, on the other hand, start several inches lower on his chest, about an inch above his rank badge, and have a much larger collar that extends horizontally or even slightly forward, not swept back at all.

I agree with Chicken.  Great start (although I have yet to really dig into the details), the only things that give me pause is the length and flare at the bottom, from a first impression.

Do we have a reference album for this character in the Gallery yet?  I'd like to see more refs.  (that don't require a Pinterest login LOL)

Edit: Nevermind, I found Chicken's Gallery link above... not sure why I didn't see it the first time.  I may move that into a primary Gallery.

As to the Generic, I agree with Robert that this is a Face character to start off with.  The CRL for a specific person, who is the only one who has been seen in this very unique uniform, to date.  It can't be Generic until we see another Officer wearing the exact same configuration, and then perhaps we can see if we can call this "Planetary Commandant Dress Uniform" or something along those lines (the specifics of his position escape my memory at this moment, pre-coffee!), depending on what the other wearer's position is.  Otherwise this may well be a one-off for a local Commandant in charge of a backwater planet who customized his Uniform with some heavy local wool or something?  No idea, but we do need to know more before this can be extended and considered an Imperial standard.

Also, as a specific face character CRL, the only allowed Rank bar would be the one we see him wearing in these scenes.

At this point that's sort of the only option, since actual Rexim-Favor machine guns are impossible to come by.  (I guess you can make a model out of anything, but yeah, 3D printing is a good way to start off, as long as you clean it up nicely before casting)

Hi, Im the one making the linked rubber etsy one. I'll have to update the picture as Ive gotten better at cleaning and producing them (thats the second casting pictured, and the mold its self was my thord ever mold).

And I agree its not perfect. When I get some time I hope to retire the current mold for a better one and clean up the end cap, muzzle, and sling point which are the main areas that need improvement.
