kman got a reaction from Oday in Hat shape
I keep mine in a hat box (read: box that fits the hat) so it doesn't get crushed out of shape.  That's really all I've needed to do with it.  My oldest hat has been stored this way for 8 years and is still doing just fine, so my personal opinion is that really should be all that's necessary.

You could also keep it on a mannequin head (cheap styrofoam ones from eBay suffice just fine), but then you need to do something about dust protection anyway, so what's the point?  Or combine the two, and put the hat on the head and put THAT in the box.  Or some use a styrofoam half ball, or even just stuff some old tshirts inside.  The brim itself is pretty sturdy and shouldn't need any special treatment.

As to getting your current hat a but more crisp on the top, if it's already a little limp, be wary of actual irons, as Wampa's fabric is a very fine polyester weave, so if you get the ultra-fine strands too warm, you can melt them.  A steamer should be perfectly safe and is all most need.  Wampa's hat's front panel tends to be a little "dimpled" (wrinkled) in the top (front panel), something about how they store/ship them, I'm not sure... one reason why I'm not a huge fan of them.

kman got a reaction from Oday in Yet another Jackboots question
Hessen should work, I think?  I admit those don't look much like jack boots, to my eye, more like short riding boots.  The noirtide isn't that different, though, to be honest, but at least theirs has the adjustment strap for extra accuracy.

Shipping isn't free for most vendors, especially overseas.  Did KeepTrooping just wrap a wave?  They come pretty frequently.  Might be worth waiting for.  Edit: Next wave starts 11/8 (about a week)and closes 11/17.  Shipping is usually pretty quick.  I doubt that's actually slower than the other two.  Hessen *might* be faster, depending on stock, but no guarantees, especially if it needs to ship from their overseas suppliers.

Warning with Hessen, their sizes run SMALL, not large like the website usually claims.  If you wear an American size 10, you'll want the 11 boots.  If you're a half size, go up 1.5 sizes.  (10.5 = 12). It's easy to add insoles if they're a tad large, but small boots SUCK.

kman got a reaction from Oday in Line Officer Color Question
Technically the color is a German word, "Feldgrau" ("Field Gray") which is a greenish brownish gray.  "Olive" is probably the closest color in real world, of course, which specific olive?  OD green is definitely not right... the US military "olive drab" green is far too green.  What you want to avoid is actual gray... that's a distinctly different uniform (which now exists due to Andor, as the lower level assistant officers to the ISB higher ups... the name is not quite formalized yet).

For the traditional Line Officer (like Tarkin and others in the original trilogy, or the Military Officer in the non-saga movies and shows), Anovos looks closest to "right" to the eye, but interestingly, the German garrison did a special run of fabric that was color matched to Tarkin's actual pants (owned by a private collector in Germany), and comparing Anovos, Wampa, and a scrap of that German fabric, Wampa's green is actually the closest match to the real deal.

Anovos hat on the left, Wampa hat on the right, German color-matched Cavalry tweed scrap at the bottom, natural sunlight:

The flight suits don't usually have seams down the back, so I would recommend keeping them to the side where they should expect to be found.

You definitely don't want the cogs and sleeve pockets to be too low... the cogs need to be within an inch of the shoulder top, the code cylinder sleeve pockets need to be just under that, along the top part of the arm, and the compad pocket needs to be roughly the middle of the forearm, a bit closer to the sleeve cuff, the way it is on the stock suit.

Beyond that, the specific construction steps needed to accomplish all that are not really in my sewing skillset, I'm afraid, but perhaps someone else knows.

Thrawn had white armor and a white AT-AT Commander-style helmet in the SW Galaxy of Heros game.

Governor Pryce wore very similar armor in Rebels. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:ID_Governor_Arihnda_Pryce

So I'd say those two helmets are the most likely styles for relatively standard officers.  Given Thrawn's, an armored ISB officer would mostly likely be white, if I had to guess based on the little available info.

And Agent Kallus, of course, has armor as well, although it's very different.  https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:ID_Agent_Kallus

Until the show actually drops, we can't actually get a CRL for anything.  LMOs need to know for sure who the characters are so they can formally assign a costume to IOC or another detachment.  Trailers can also contain scenes that end up cut from the final product, this has happened many times.

And it's hard to make formal decisions based on a 1 second flash in a trailer.  Not clear if that's ISB or an Attendant, at this point, or something entirely new... all remains to be seen.

Obviously, though, we are excited about the possibility of some new armor for our officers, since it certainly seems kinda likely.   At least based on the trailer, Andor S2 looks like it will uphold the high bar set by S1, and I can't wait!

Unlikely to make it into any CRLs, I'm afraid.

Costume displays are somewhat notorious for cobbling together various bits that look good to whatever low-paid employee (who often has little knowledge or respect for the source material) assembled the mannequin for the show.  Costuming errors are extremely frequent.

If you can find a shot on screen, on the other hand, which can reasonably be shown to almost definitely match this holster, it's possible the holster could be added.

Unfortunately we have no idea what blaster is inside, if any, so it would ONLY be a holster.  But again, we need that money shot of it on screen, or in other authorized source materials, first.

Yes, WampaWear's black tunic and pants are a true black.  Perfectly fine.  I suspect they blew out the contrast a bit for the photos so people can see the detail more easily.  It's very hard to see details on all black products without some level of adjustment.  (and photo skills vary even among vendors!)

kman got a reaction from Raxus in Belt Box clips
The lower clips are the boxes sold by Philo Props, I believe, on his larger OT size boxes.  They're simple metal strapping (you can see the holes under) covered in heat shrink tubing.  Technically you could probably get wide heat shrink tubing and cover even the wider clips the same way.   That said, I prefer the single one piece clips, because the two piece style doesn't grip as tightly and they move around a lot more, and I've had them pop off before.  That looser grip is why they're not as hard on the belt, but it comes at a price.

PS I'd recommend gaffers tape over electrical tape... might get the job done easier.  Electrical tape adhesive tends to leave a gooey mess.  Gaffers tape is matte and less shiny, too

If I may put in my two cents - I decided to sew together my own tunic, johdpurs, and officer's cap from scratch and my Krennic got approved last April.  Before that, I took a year-long journey on learning how to sew with very little prior knowledge on the subject.  Now I'm sewing a second uniform for myself (Line Officer/Olive Drab) with a goal for that project to be completed and approved by April, with a couple more big sewing ideas on the horizon after that.

    I had 4 big advantages:
My mom, who was an awesome seamstress, passed away a few years ago and I still have all her sewing supplies.  So this project was a bit of preserving her memory.  It also helps that, thanks to her, I have three sewing machines, tons of random fabric, and enough supplies to outfit a small Joanns all laying around my house.   My mother-in-law, also an awesome seamstress, was around to give me help and pointers when I needed them.   I am chronically DIY-minded.   I am chronically cheap.   The cons are like this - if you don't have experience in sewing then you need to build up those skills over time and have something of a plan.  It will take a while and if you factor in hours worked then buying a uniform is always going to be more cost efficient until you get real good at sewing.  I made four different caps, two johdpurs, and three tunics before getting them good enough for approval.

The pros are:  A Sense Of Pride And Accomplishment and a pretty cool new skill.  I can mend clothes and even do some light tailoring.  Hole in the pocket of my favorite jeans?  No problem, I can fix it in maybe 15 minutes.

I thought about putting together a thread about my uniform but I don't want to do anything like that until it's approved and the proof of concept is...you know...proven.

I suspect the vast majority of us purchase them, or have them commissioned.

Officer uniforms require tailoring skills similar to the ability to sew a men's business suit.  If your tailoring skills are up to the task, or you're willing to learn, it's a great way to save a fair amount money and get a custom-fitted garment.

If your sewing skills are only mediocre, and you don't want to put in a fair amount of time and effort to level them up, I'd probably recommend purchasing something instead.

It's hard to notice this detail, but when you are looking at cutscenes, you can see that the tear inside is not the same height as the outer tear.

I remodeled this, also change lenght +5mm to make the tear thinner. I think it look better now.

@meitru can we start doing the CRL? Hope that in June everything will be ready to accept the costme?
At this time do you need more photos?

We could sort out information to create draft of the crl - some of this work is arleady done by @AntonioTony in first post.
And also we need to discuss the details like design of beltbox as @kman mentioned and what will be accepted for base approval and L2, L3 approval.

I concur, "ask your GML" is probably the best advice, if you're concerned about being approved specifically with a specific piece.

Personally, as long as it looks reasonably in the right ballpark, we tend to not get too into the weeds with blaster detail, particularly since Officer blasters spend the majority of their life in holsters anyway.

As to the scope mount, the CRL language (which I suspect was copied from the Death Trooper language verbatim, but I have not double checked that yet), simply says "The scope mount looks similar to the magazine but smaller in size."  It doesn't spefically call out the grooves, so that would again be a GML call on how THEY interpret the language.  I'm not against modifying the line to allow for both grooved and ungrooved variants, though.

I would not use the Stormtrooper SE14R as an example... that particular blaster only appeared in that one promo photo, and was never seen in ANH (aside from the Dr. Ezran model which was yet another different variant).  We would care more about the models actually seen in officer's hands, which I believe are usually more consistent.  Still, different productions have had different propmasters who sometimes made some slight variations, so none of these are set in stone the same way other blasters have been.  (noting that few blasters have ever been 100% consistent across even the same movie or show).

The ones I can think of that would apply all have the charging handle on the right (costumer's right, when holding the blaster in hand).  I've seen scope adjustment knobs facing both ways, always up, but the second to the left or right.  From a shooting perspective, this would be end user preference.  (along with right-handed vs left handed differences)

Here, it's to the right, and yet many other references show it to the left, so clearly there's an amount of dealer's choice at play.  On my own SE-14R, I set it up with the knob to my right, as below, because I just thought it looked better.  (It also holsters better with the bumpy bits facing the outside)

@chicken45 Perhaps we should tweak the CRL language a little, for clarity on some of these points?  (The changes could affect several CRLs, though). Or did the text block come completely canned from the Death Trooper CRL?

Officers do not usually carry much, so options are limited if you are trying to stay Canon.  We have never seen backpacks, for instance, which would be really helpful for carrying things at a Con.  The only case we have seen officers carry is the small Rimowa attache case that Dedra Meero carries sometimes in Andor.

Those are hard to get and extremely expensive, however... plus you don't need to be 100% canon at a Con, however, so I would just choose something that looks "in universe" and something sleek like an officer might carry.
