You didn't specify which costume, but those look like the correct gloves for most of the non-saga costumes.

The German Jack boots are used by Bridge Crew and others, but not the Officers.  None of that information is relevant to the question asked in this thread.  The OP is looking for Officer boots, not Knobelbechers.

    To answer the question:

Hessen boots are fantastic with a great price, but they have very limited sizes in stock right now.  They do offer a custom option, but I've heard mixed reports on their ability to get the sizing correct... and reports of very bad customer service if they get it wrong.

CrowProps is a good option (for the money) for people who have unusually size feet (or legs), as they are full custom.

Next level up from there is probably Mux Leather... they're more expensive, but outstanding quality, and full custom.

Any local automotive shop will probably carry the auto trim, if you don't want to buy a whole bag from Amazon.

I have no doubt there are hundreds of skilled tailors in the world who could do as well or better than Clothears.  But those are custom commissions from individuals, and they'll need to figure out and draft their own patterns, hope they get all the details right, etc.

For well-known companies that formally sell the uniforms, there is no better than Clothears.

And yes, it's an easy approval.  As long as it fits you correctly and all the accessories are correct, beyond the sewn cloth parts.

But thanks a lot so far for all the support and the help to bring Beehaz to life. Wolf enjoyed wearing the uniform at SWCE and at Cruachan Dam in Scotland (original Aldhani location).

Just adding these reference shots, since I wasn't able to do so the other day for unknown technical reasons.

The adjustment flaps on the officer boots were copied from the vintage German jackboots used in WWII.  So those are good source material for seeing how it was done (and conveniently, I own a pair).

I am eager to see what happens when Thrawn shows up. My big question is will grand admirals have a purposefully different shade of white than ISB?
I always thought it was cool he had a white uniform, but I didn't understand if there was a reason both he AND the ISB were the same color tunics, or if the tunics were supposed to even be different. But alas...

We know he's always been in a white uniform so it will be interesting to see how future discussions on this will play out.
Rebels Thrawn is technically, a gray.

As for collar height, @kman and I went into the weeds on this one as you can see on page 2 of this thead.
1.75" is what WW sells, and it looks good on me and @buckrogersbarker.
I think 2 inch collars can work for larger folks, but not for the vast majority of us.

I agree the color is fine.  The fabric itself is not accurate (it should be a twill, ideally Cavalry but Gabardine is commonly accepted alternative, and his is neither), but that's not something we've called out in the CRL, so it'll still pass.

The other, perhaps bigger, issue was the topstitching on the collars that we saw in photos.  I'm not sure if that was just a prototype and it was addressed later, or if they shipped that way, but that could be a bigger issue.  I'm hoping this was just a prototype, and a non-issue.

The collar height may be an issue for many, as well, as Joshua notes.  Meero and Partigaz had taller collars, just under 2", but a number of Tripon's collars have been measuring just over 2", which is supposed to be an absolute maximum... and frankly, outside of those two, nearly all (there are a couple odd exceptions, but still the vast majority) had 1.5" collars, and not the 2"+ that seems to be Tripon's preference for some reason.  You could argue scaling but unless you well north of 6 feet tall, that's a tough sell.

    Meero:

    Partigaz:

And then there are almost all of the others:

    Blevin:

    Yularen:

Corv: (attendant, not ISB, but just for completeness)

Looking around the conference table and other group scenes in Andor Episode 4, it's pretty clear that the vast majority have 1.5" collars.  And those few that do have taller collars, they're still at least a touch under 2".

It all boils down to the GML, in the end (as always).  Some just simply won't care, or won't be attentive enough to notice.  But others will.

Overall, we think Jim did a great job on these tunics.  But there are a couple areas that miss the mark, too, which is frustrating, because if he had approached the detachment instead of going directly to an LMO who didn't catch this stuff, things would have been more straightforward.

The cruises sound fun, but my wife gets seasick if she just looks at a boat (and believe me we've tried all the drugs), so such activities are not likely ever in my future...

Sorry for the delay in responding.

Literally any of the boots pictured would be fully approvable.

If you're trying to be as exact as possible, I believe the pattern his boots used is closest to #3 and #4 (basically the same, both of those), perhaps the seams a little closer to #4.

The tops were fully flat, like in #2, but the seam is standard overlock construction (#2).

There's only two scenes with a remotely decent (albeit very dark) look at Tarkin's boots (and another at the conference table where you only get a quick flash of part of the sides), so we sort of have to go with other known boots, to extrapolate details, but from what we can see his boots still match the most commonly-used types seen on others, so that's pretty simple.

Scene 2 (later in the movie, actually, at Yavin)

    Scene 1 (Alderaan):

Even lightening the photo doesn't help much.  As the expression says "you can't squeeze blood from a stone".

The 501st does not discriminate as to sex or body type, so if you want to portray a Tarkin, that's 100% ok.

    Hope all this helps!

And they do sell them elsewhere besides the Galactic Star Cruiser! They sell them on the Disney Wish Cruise ship at the Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge! That's where I got mine. The Star Cruiser one has writing on it and the one from the Disney Wish doesn't.

There are very minor differences in the pattern used... subtle difference in the lines.  But the basic construction between the two is identical, and the same uniform can be used for both OT and Non-Saga costumes, simply by changing the accessories.  Buy two sets of accessories and you can have both costumes approved.

    Hi!
So there are a lot of options for the makeup; I'll give you the ones that have worked for me and that I have tried, but if you want more, please do tell.

    Mehron Paradise (Water base)
    - Sky blue
    -Medium blue
    - Dark blue

Pros: The color is excellent, and the shades are ideal for Rebels Thrawn; they are easy to put on and take off.
Cons: As it is water-based, it will come out if you get wet, and you also need to be careful not to ingest this paint.

Note: I would use this one for single-day events and cold weather. It is also the cheapest option listed here.

    Endura performance makeup (alcohol base)
    -Light Blue
    - Blue
    -White

Pros: It lasts up to 4 days, and as it is an FX makeup, it will not stain as much or not at all. It can be applied by brush or airbrush.
Cons: Taking it off is an odyssey, and if used too often, it can cause some damage to your skin, either from the time of use or the strength you need to apply to take it off.

Note: This one for 3 to 4 day long events like conventions, so it is worth to put on. It is expensive and you need to create the shades of the skin with the listed tones, but it is the most resistant one I have tried.

Form X Skin Illustrator (alcohol base)
    - On Ice
    -Cobalt Blue
    - Ultra blue
    -Black

Pros: It lasts up to 3 days, and as it is an FX makeup, it will not stain as much.

It is expensive and you need to create the shades of the skin with the listed tones.

It is also noted that you will almost always stain your uniform... the only way i see is to use a hidden neck but a little would still stain on top of the collar.

As for the lenses I used to get mine form Amazon, the complete red eye is and Sclera lense, but it can be uncomfortable so there's also mini scleras too.
If you use glasses as it has happened to me eventually this won't fit well, so you would need to have some made with your eye measurements.
Here are some options for prescription scleras:

    - 9SFX : Red sclera
    - Wickedeye Z  : Red sclera

Hope this informations helps you and if you need anything else please don't hesitate to contact!

Depends on the troop.  When trooping as an officer, sometimes I'll go half-blind (but I can see tolerably well... enough... that I'm in no danger of hurting myself, I just have to work to interpret the blobs of human faces around me, LOL) if I deem it important to be canon.  For Cons, I just wear my glasses.  That said, my current glasses are very fine and light, nearly rimless with a small metallic rim across the top.  They're not super noticeable and don't really look out of place.

Thrawn would be a tough one, though.  If at all possible, I'd go without or wear contacts, because glasses would look especially wrong on him.  (Although isn't he supposed to have red eye contacts anyway?)  If that's really not an option, well, then wear glasses as safety takes priority.  Just take them off for photos.   (clearly a case of "do as I say, not as I do", in the case of the above photo, where I forgot to remove them!)

For slender people with feet that fit their limited size range, I'd generally recommend Hessen Antiques.  https://hessenantique.com/riding-boots/

If you don't fit their limited sizing (and bear in mind the sizes run SMALL, not large, despite what the website claims), I would usually recommend CrowProps as the next cheapest option.  They're full custom and there is a wait involved, however.  https://crowprops.bigcartel.com/product/black-officer-boots-without-zipper

After that the price starts climbing.  Imperial Boots pricing isn't terrible (though certainly higher), so that may be an option.  Beyond that, yeah, higher (and slower).  Mux Leather, Magnoli, actual custom riding boots... lots of options.

For my wife, I was super patient and just waited for the right size to show up on eBay, Etsy and local riding shops, and eventually scored a nice pair of legit riding boots for all of $75.  Took about 9 months, though.  You could get luckier.  Or not.

Yup.  The Derby Ovation boots (those) are a popular starter boot.

I say "starter" because they're ... not fun to troop in for long.  Pretty miserable in the heat... that rubber doesn't breathe at ALL, and the footbed is... meh.  (I used to actually ride in a pair.)

But if they'll fit you, you can definitely be approved in them.

Allowing both is the way forward or sure - and nobody is asking for a separate CRL here (I hope anyway).

The reason I want to make sure we don't assume things is that certain things can be missed first time around, and if new sources were to come up later, it can be hard to get that "legacy" knowledge out of people for a good while. I think it's fair to say that belt boxes are meant to look like metal, regardless of what they're actually made of. I'm not saying Metal shouldn't be allowed, but I'm not sure if we should specify that they actually should be unless any of us had any access to the original piece. I like the wording put forward by Ezra, it gets the intention across but isn't necessarily too specific.

I've not had the pleasure of seeing any of the boxes on tour suits in person, so I can't give my input on that. I have seen pilot code cylinders on tour suits and they looked pretty shoddy and were made from resin. Could I have spotted that from the film? Probably not. But that's a different part, so please don't take that at face value, it's just anecdotal to elaborate why I think about the boxes this way  I can't exactly promise if I'd ever hear anything from production side, but if I do - I know where the thread here is

Stare at these boxes long enough and the difference is quite clear.

Many of the costumes have gone on tour and been photographed extensively.

Go ahead and watch the movie again and see if you can capture evidence to the contrary.  I've done so... carefully... and not seen a single one that looked like it could be resin.  The proof is there on screen.  Please feel free to try again yourself... there aren't actually that many scenes with officers, and only a handful of officers even wear belt boxes.  They're just not there, on screen.  I just watched it again tonight, in 4K UHD, on a calibrated 85" screen, specifically looking for belt boxes the whole time, to be sure.

Now, to your point: Is there any way to SWEAR there isn't a single out-of-focus background character wearing a resin one?  Of course not.  And it's pretty darned hard to prove a negative, without talking directly to everyone in the prop department.  But I'm pretty sure are you not going to be able to show us a screen shot showing positive evidence of resin boxes in Rogue One.  If you have some from some other source, by all means please share it with us.

*Everything* we've gleaned to date has indicated metal for Rogue One, and I've seen nothing to the contrary, including in deleted scenes and material not released to the public.  On the other hand, the new resin ones can be seen pretty readily, in some subsequent features.

But here's the main question, after all that:  What would it matter, if you found some evidence that one random out of focus background character used a resin belt box?  We've made it pretty clear that the plan is to allow both...  We're not making a separate character CRL just for a belt box difference.  We're just trying to figure out the best way to state it in the CRL.

Understood.  We're talking about different aspects of the same thing, though.  I wasn't talking about the very corner bit, where there is a tiny relief cut to prevent corner puckering, I was talking about the actual edges of the metal, where you're literally looking at the thickness of the edges of the metal as it comes forward from the bend.  That's the part that was made thicker when they 3D modeled it.

Had the box back been a solid piece of metal, and not had tabs folding forward, the metal would have needed relief cuts where the back "band" wraps around each corner, to replicate the look seen and generate those sharp edges, but that's not the case here, as the construction is different.
