Were the measurements used from the screen-used boxes?  I believe you were in the loop on that session.

Meantime, the Firebirds do have a public-facing Facebook page where we've posted photos, if you want to peruse there. https://www.facebook.com/Firebirds105

I'm not sure on the exact model, this was just a really lucky ebay find.

They appear to be some kind of older model of Racal headset. It may be an old model/or a predecessor to the Racal Atlantic.

That's a very fair thing to bring up! Since the enlisted also appear on Rogue One, I think having both colorways for belt boxes may be the best bet.

In this example they'd be very clearly the darker set.

In this example, it might be silver too!

In this example, it's silver for sure

Either way, I'm a big fan of options and re-using parts where possible. In my opinion, both colors should be fine (for this and ISB). More of me rambling about belt boxes will go in the dedicated thread of course

IOC Staff just had a discussion about the name, since this one seems to be gaining some interest.

We checked the credits and subtitles, and there are references to both Guards (of various types... Box Guard, Console Guard, Delivery Guard, etc) and an "Intake Warden", but the uniforms don't seem to be any different.  So these are all Prison Guards, of various types.

Thing is, we have seen other prisons and detention centers before (Wobani, the plant prison they broke Jyn Erso out of, for instance), and they did not have these specialized uniforms, just standard uniforms we already have (navy troopers, security officers, etc.)  So these are somewhat unique.

Wookieepedia is definitely not authoritative or official, but they refer to this costume as a "Narkina 5 Prison Guard".  https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Narkina_5_prison_guard

There are also the Prison Technicians and the Prison Commander (although they both wear the same costume, just no hat on the commander) in the sort of slate blue jumpsuits, otherwise pretty much the same as the Guards and Wardens: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_Narkina_5_prison_commander

Under the circumstances, we are leaning towards naming this costume "Narkina 5 Prison Guard" because it is, so far, unique to this particular factory prison.  Should we see other similar (but different?) Prison Guards in the future, we can rename the costume to just "Imperial Prison Guard" and add tabs for the CRL variations, if needed.

I'm going to rename this thread to reflect the updated costume name.

I have a collection that spans MANY ranks, both OT and non-saga.  I don't have pictures of all my OT ranks handy, but here is a taste LOL:

    Non-Saga:

    OT:

But I tend to agree with the "realistic age for the rank" theory.  A 20-year old is welcome to portray a top general if they really want to, but to my eye, if you appear too young, and those top tiers ranks seem a little off.  Similarly the bottom level ranks seem a little incongruous on someone in their 50s-60s, although it's certainly easier to rationalize. ("I got busted down for sleeping with the wrong general's wife" can be a great backstory LOL)

Right, that's the bolt, on the original firearm these blasters are based on. (The Swiss Rexim-Favor submachine gun)

Bolts can sometimes be parkerized to a dark metal, but realistically, once used for any significant amount of time, any finish tends to wear off, and you end up seeing the shiny steel itself.  (and of course, many bolts are shiny steel to begin with).  This is especially true of firearms of many decades ago, such as the Rexim-Favor, the bolt for which was indeed a regular silver metal color:

I don't know if we have great photography of the original props, which were casts of the Rexim-Favor, not the actual modified firearm, to show whether it was black or silver.  Some of the more recent non-saga shows I think have been mostly black, as well.

That said, the amount of weathering varies wildly, so on a more heavily used blaster, you're always going to see more silver from wear than on a brand new factory-fresh one.  So from an approval standpoint, you can do whichever you prefer, and feel good about it.

I figure the rank should match the relative age of the member. A young member in their early 20s would more likely be of a lower rank (IE, cadet or Lieutenant) while members of a certain age (ice age, like me) would probably hold a senior rank like Colonel or General. I think it would be rather odd to find a 20 year old Admiral in the ranks, but there's no real reason that you can't.

For those of us without a Chopper like Josh's, I suspect a simple box knife and good straight edge will do the trick nicely. (along with a fair amount of pressure)

I agree completely, it's hard to tell for sure. It's just easier to say what it's NOT for sure

I'm not smart enough with fabric types to have better suggestions, but I'm sure we can get close to whatever it is.

Normally I agree, we try to stay away from getting too into the bottom of the soles for that very reason.  The hobnail bit got added after people got tired of answering the question "are boots with hobnails ok?", I believe, and they just added a line to make it clear they're not a problem, if present.

Personally, I'd love to specify soles without visible tread (at least for higher level approvals), because it bugs me when I see modern shoe tread (for the ones where it's really very visible from the sides), but we leave well enough alone in the name of inclusion, and try not to let the nit-picky tendencies get the better of us LOL

It's not leather, but I agree, that's definitely not the shiny nylon used in the photos posted earlier.  It's possible it's a synthetic chamois.  Texture is really hard to get without *perfect* photos... even that last one above I am somewhat suspect of.  Jpg compression can do crazy things to fabric texture.

Definitely some sort of rectangular magnetic closure on the opposite side from the rank bar, in the triangular bit.  And some sort of hook and eye (like on a regular tunic's neck), or maaaaybe the hook and bar closures they seem so fond of recently.

I look forward to seeing what Joey Lim is coming up with.
