Krennic's is bad to compare to as he is a face so his can break the mold. His also clearly covers more than half his throat.

Also, patterns of 2" will result in slightly less than 1.5" collars once seam allowance is taken out.

This was just a test shot that my friend did few days back as he wanted to try out some lighting at the studio. So pretty much went to test out the outfit and wig to see how it looks.

But not Han or Luke in Stormtroopers. But you're right, this isn't the place.

Looking forward to seeing what you have Kate.

On this particular issue, I do think it's a detail that probably doesn't need to be required at lower levels and at lower levels a seamline could certainly be done instead, however fir the highest level of accuracy, it's probably just topstitching.

I agree with Meg that abuse wouldn't make it look like top-stitching. If it is was a seam, there would be shadowed dark solid line where the 2 folded edges of the fabric meet when seamed together - but the only shadowed fold line is the folded edge of the yoke's outer side. Also the single angled line of top-stitching going through the yoke looks just like the 3 rows of top-stitching edging the yoke's side edge in terms of coloration and spacing of broken up dark shadows from the individual stitches.

I also think the top-stitching goes up to the High Point Shoulder (HPS) - which is where the shoulder seam (if there was one) would meet the collar - just like Meg said. I just didn't want to say that for certain until I draped the cape.

I'm meeting up with Mark this weekend to fit his jacket, and I'll get measurements for his cape - once I drape out the pattern, I'll post more info and a detailed drawing on how the cape is constructed.

Cartoons these days are definitely not all just for kids *she says side-eyeing Archer, and a bunch of other cartoons*

You're missing out on some great stories and great characters, but if you don't want to investigate, that's your prerogative.

Rebels, at least, in your stated timeline preference.

I was asked by gianphilo if I wanted a raised one as he said it was the most accurate. I don't know about other suppliers but I had no problem getting one from him.

This is why I'm not suggesting it at L1.

I think a midline zip is in some ways unavoidable. I added an extra to try it to get it to hug my curves better.

No it does not preclude zips you are fine there Meg, the only time it would not be ok is if there was only the zip running down the edge if that makes sense?

Ok, here is where I'm inclined to push for greater accuracy at L1. The standard flares that you get from vendors are just... ludicrous for Pryce.

Pryce's flares are very small. So small that until we got a full length photo, I and plenty of others thought they did not exist. I feel that allowing full sized flares, even at L1, is not acceptable for Pryce. It makes it look not like her. Seamlines don't change whether the costume looks like her, but the silhouette really does. I would even be willing to accept straight pants for Pryce before the full sized flares.

To add to my push for this, changing the flare size is SUPER EASY. Because you're taking out fabric, rather than adding more, you can take any pair of pants bought from traditional suppliers and sew in smaller flares. So, my suggestion is this:

    For 501st Approval:
Fabric is a medium weight suiting material exactly matching the tunic and medium grey in color. The flares on the jodphurs are not as wide or pronounced as on Original Trilogy officers jodphurs. Pockets are acceptable, although are not visible with the tunic on.  Flares should be stiffened.
For level two certification (if applicable)
Small flares on the breeches mimic the shape of Pryce's flares. This wording is also consistent to what we've done on other segments (like the eyebrows for makeup) where the higher level just makes people make it look even closer to the reference art rather than defining it. But this also means that L1 you still need to bring in the flares so that they are not as pronounced.

Also, having fit these flares, I really don't want to put a number on it. I say this, because I actually determined just how much of a difference there is between my thighs when making these. No matter what I did, every time the two were identical in shape when laid together, the right leg looked wrong. Its still not 100% but I realised I had to take nearly an additional inch off of it to make it look right because of the width of my thigh. So if you lay them out, one does not match the other anymore. However, now when you look at them on me, they look the same. The physics of 3D bodies, go figure.

Yeah, you can see it in this image here pretty clearly. I went back to my original photos and here is one I just uploaded that is as clear as I have it in my photos:

I thought it was a seam til I went back to the photos and now I don't think its a seam. You can see the top stitching going through the top-stitching on the yoke's side triple-stitch.

I disagree, particularly as there is already an application in for higher level. And to be clear, I totally think that@unusedpizza's costume is bang on and probably deserves that higher level, just that the wording and diagrams is way off.

If we're changing one set, it makes sense to me to look at both so that they are harmonious. Some of the issues in level 2 could be fixed by the work in level 1 in places. (Like the differences in height between levels)

I will try, but it won't be a computer version and may take me a few days.

That bothers me, too, but I'm more invested in other aspects. I just really don't want poor costumes getting through based on a poor CRL, which I think could happen with this current one.

Thanks for bringing this up, I also wondered why there is a modesty panel because at every reference picture I saw the collar was only secured with the hooks you mentioned.
I believe to remember a scene where the collar is even open and you can see clear on his throat, but I don't know which scene and if my memory is correct ^^

@UnusedPizza as said before you did a great job and I really believe that the way you did it keeps the cloak in perfect place. I think all we wanted to say with the previous posts is that the people should have the freedom to decide how they attach the cape to the tunic, as long as nothing is visible and the cape is kept in its place

I also have a serious question - while I know I put it in, if you watch the scene with Krennic yelling at Jynn on the tower, when they go to closeup, he very clearly does NOT have a privacy panel.  You can see 4 eye-hooks and his throat though the small gap.  Is that something we're going to ignore, or at some level do you need to lose the privacy panel?

Uh, yeah...   I have 6 on mine and I'm 6'6".  12 is overkill to the extreme.

I agree on this as well (nice catch, I didn't see either one of these) - I have 4 buttons on mine and it stays in place.  That many and I fear it won't move (or will, but move wrong) - remember, it slid around on him a little as he moved - if you superglue it to the tunic it won't have the same flow (yeah, I know, snaps aren't super glue, but that many and they might as well be).

While i prefer clear and defined measurements as it usually helps the tailors and seamstresses , i think i'll have to second the percentage idea .
Any set / unique measurement will not look the same on different people .
I'm looking into getting a new tunic custom made , i'm 5'7 , if i follow the current CRL measurements exactly , i'll end up with odd stuff .
