Learned that today while watching Rogue Recon... Thrawn's SD also has the design on the underbelly too. Pretty cool!!

DarthFunk83 reacted to captsafe66 in Generic First Order General CRL Discussion
You saw what the LMO said.  No amount of debate here will change it.  The Speech scene doesn't have the details required to make the correct call.  Until we have additional pics proving the other generals are dressed exactly the same as Hux, our hands are tied.
I agree with the need for this CRL, but we can't base the CRL on wants and could be, but we do lack the facts to support it.
This kind of post needs to be directed to the LMO staff, not here.  It is not adding to the discussion for the other officers in the movie, it is disrupting it and it bordering on flaming.  Please post only constructively in this thread or I will have no choice but to close it.

This was just a test shot that my friend did few days back as he wanted to try out some lighting at the studio. So pretty much went to test out the outfit and wig to see how it looks.

This is unfortunately true. Ive been working the last few days trying to see if there is enough visual evidence to make a generic Grand Moff CRL too. What I thought would be a 'trivial' exercise has turned up rather fruitless. Ive literally found only one good (maybe 2 or 3 if you include no-so good) photo of a Grand Moff, dressed similarly to Tarkin, but who is not Tarkin  Not sure if thats good enough to make a new CRL

    Hello Everyone,

Ive been wanting to make Galen Erso's science officer uniform for quite some time now, and I am slowly starting to put pieces together to start constructing this costume. I will admit right now that I am a newbie with respect to constructing CRLs, so be patient with me. As of right now, I dont own a copy of the Rogue One Visual Guide, so Ive literally only been able to use the following two pictures as reference (I am getting the Visual Guide soon). Im kind of waiting for the BluRay to be released so I can try and get a better idea of what the uniform looks like.

    Visual references:

NOTE 1: I am inferring a lot, based on other CRLs. Until a time comes when more visual material is ready, and proper analysis can be made, this is my best guess at the moment.
NOTE 2: The first draft of this CRL is largely copied and pasted from other CRLs. This is purely out of convenience and due to a lack of other visual material.

The CRL is written under the hopes that it can be made more general or broadly a "Science Officer", rather than specifically "Galen Erso." If that is not possible, the draft will be amended to include a Hair and Facial Appearance sect

    Tunic, Olive
For 501st approval: Fabric is a medium weight suiting material exactly matching the pants. Gabardine style weave is most accurate. Tunic is double-breasted with a left over right closure on the tapered yoke. Yoke comes up across the shoulder to the top shoulder seam. The standing collar has square corners and is tall, raising to mid-neck on wearer. Collar closes snugly and includes a modesty panel behind closure. Collar edges are closed with two eye hooks. There are code cylinder pockets on both outside panels of the jacket from about half way between the top and bottom on the arm hole. Sleeves are long, and without decoration, cuffs or buttons. Sleeves contain 2 seams. One along the bottom and one along the back. Tunic is constructed with no top-stitching (stitches visible on the exterior surface of fabric) Hook and eye fasteners on the uniform should not be visible.
For level two certification (if applicable):
There is a dart of about 2" (50.8 mm) in the top center of the yoke. There is a seam running the entire circumference of the tunic, dividing it along a line hidden by the uniform belt. The back of the tunic has princess seams that run vertically and turn outward to intersect the arm-hole seam at the vertical center.
For level three certification (if applicable):
Tunic is secured on the right side by snaps or buttons. Not hook and loop fastener (Velcro). There is no top-stitching visible anywhere. A lining is sewn in.
    Dress Shirt
    For 501st approval:
A white or cream colored dress shirt is worn under the tunic. The sleeve cuffs are slightly visible, protruding from under the olive tunic.

    Rank Bar
For 501st approval: See the Imperial Rank Bar page for more information. Worn on the left side of the tunic over the heart. Rank consists of colored plastic tiles mounted on metal bar. Bar is 1" (25.4 mm) height, length is determined by chosen rank Rank tile dimensions are 1/2" (12.7 mm)width x 3/4" (19 mm) height and about 1/8" (3.2 mm). Tiles are mounted with 1/4" (6.4 mm) spaces between them. Rank tiles are translucent. Rank bar exactly matches the color pattern used in the film. Four amber tiles, one red tile at the end.
For level two certification (if applicable):

For level three certification (if applicable):
Rank consists of colored plastic push buttons mounted on a metal bar.

    Code Cylinders
For 501st approval: Two code cylinders are worn, one in each pocket. Dosimeter style: True Dosimeter with correct clip and Blue top.
For level two certification (if applicable): Dosimeters have a silver, non-brass, clip.
    Belt
For 501st approval: The belt is constructed from a non-textured leather or a leather-like material. Approximately 2" (50.8 mm) in width, up to 3" (76.2 mm) is acceptable. There are no loops on the belt. A single large snap or rivet is visible approximately 1" (25.4 mm) from the buckle. The belt may be worn with the snap to the right or left of the wearer. The buckle is constructed from a horizontally brushed metal, or metal looking material. The buckle size is approximately 2 5/8" (66.7 mm) high and 4 1/8" (104.5 mm) wide with 0.5" (12.7 mm) radius rounded corners. Buckle is adorned with an Imperial Code Disk at the center. Please refer to the Imperial Buckle reference page for information on accurate and inaccurate style buckles.
For level two certification (if applicable): Belt is made of leather. Snap is worn to the left of the wearer. Buckle has a slight horizontal curve.
For level three certification (if applicable):
Code disk on belt matches exactly what is seen in the film.

    Trousers, Olive
    For 501st approval:
Fabric is a medium weight suiting material exactly matching the tunic. Gabardine style weave is most accurate. Trousers are straight legged with no flares or breeches. Trousers are neatly pressed and ironed. Trousers are worn with boots. Pockets are acceptable, although are not visible with the tunic on.
    Boots
For 501st approval: Boots are above ankle height and made of black leather or leather-like material. Small U-shaped elastic sections on both sides of the ankle. Flat sole with a short heel. No buckles or laces or decorations of any kind. Chelsea-type boots or an equivalent style is acceptable. Elvis or Mariachi boots are not allowed.
For level two certification (if applicable): There is no seam present on the front of the boot.
For level three certification (if applicable):
    Boots are made of leather.
What do you guys think? Any additional comments, wording clarifications, information, would be most appreciated. The biggest limitation for me right now is the lack of visual material. If you have any pictures of this costume, other than the two Ive posted here, PLEASE post them here!!

Thats great to hear, Jared!! I too had a similar, awesome experience with TiggWolf (where I got my rank bar and belt too). They truly are awesome!! Now Tiggie is thinking about offering push button rank bars; thinking being the operative word there. They are hoping to showcase a prototype soon.

Cheers!! And great that they finally came!!

Hey guys. I know Im late to the discussion, but I think I identified where the ID designation comes from (or at least one possible origin for it). I was doing some research into another costume, going through some old RPG books, and I came across a supplementary book for Star Wars: Galaxy at War (Saga Edition). On page 97, there is a chart. Here is a scan of the chart:

Now, why those authors decided ID is unknown, but I thought Id post this for your guys' info.
