After carefully examining frame by frame, I can assure that the boots don't have any buckle like Krennic's, they're just generic officer high boots.

    Officer Boots
    • Knee-high, black, riding style, lace-less, smooth non-textured, leather or leather-like material.
    • There are no buckles, snap tabs or decoration.
    • Boots have conservative heels.
    • A single stretch panel or zipper may be present, they are to be hidden on the inner part of the boot shaft.
    • Not visible from the front, side or back.
    • The top of the boots may be flat or Spanish Style, but not Cowboy or Super Hero (pointed at the front) style.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
    • Boots do not have stretch panels or a zipper.
OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable):
    • Boots are made of leather.
      • Not vinyl or PVC.
    • Exact replicas of English riding (dress) boots or Equestrian boots.

Thank you for starting this draft. I think you might want to remove the level 2 and 3 requirements listed here, as it appears these boots have a zipper on the back that's covered by a strip of leather and velcro to secure it.

  2. In the references posted above there clearly is a buckle strap on the boot in the same style as the other non-saga costumes that have riding boots, Krennic for example. So I'm puzzled why this isn't on CRL draft.

      • Breeches are worn with boots.
      • Breeches are neatly pressed or ironed without creases.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
    • Trousers do not flare out past the width of the tunic.

I'm not against updating the photos, of course.  That's a lot more work, however, and slower than simply unlocking the wiki for a one word edit.  (Change the "six" to a "seven")

Any reason why that can't get knocked out, say, tomorrow, rather than waiting on photos to be taken, sent, photoshopped, etc?

Since the costumer mentioned he will have it done by next weekend above, so I'd think it would be better to wait a few more days and gave it updated completely. But if you really want to adjust the text right away, put up a request to have it altered. I just proposed it would be more coherent to have the text and the images match up.

  4. The one thing that stood out to me the most re-watching the Bad Batch was the shape of Admiral Ramparts rankbar, it's smaller then a live action rankbar and it has squared tiles instead of rectangular push lens caps. It's most noticeable when compared to Tarkin.

He also has several smaller studs on the right side of his buckle:

I do plan to do this update and would get photos of it and from the back to update the crl.

I am in process and should have it done today. I should have some photos of that this weekend.

Awesome! In that case I would really like to propose we update the CRL with the new pictures at the same time. How do you feel about this @buckrogersbarker ?

  6. Sorry for the slow reply, but I've managed to dig up the helmet used in the CRL for photo reference.
The helmet used in the Imperial Cadet CRL has a very thin sheet used for the lenses. It wasn't heat shaped to make the window shape at all, it's less then 1mm in thickness.

I've attached an outer and inner view of how the lenses have been attached. I hope it helps!

    Hello!

Now that Celebration is over, and we got some great pics of some of the costumes. It has come to my attention that the Moff Gideon CRL needs to be adjusted in one small section.

"Five to Six evenly spaced pleats are present, approximately 1 inch (38mm) in size, clustered at the back of the neck, where the cape fabric meets the trim."

The cap has a total of seven pleats. One center box pleat , and then 3 knife pleats on the sides.

I would see no issue in adjusting this based on new evidence at all. Can I ask if you intend to update this detail on your current costume?

  8. Hello! Since there was an available record of Grand Admiral Rae Sloane being accepted as a NTTL a few years back, we have decided that it would not be needed to have another LMO poll for a costume that was already considered a right fit for the IOC.

As all of the available images of Grand Admiral Sloane's uniform share the same features as the Star Wars Rebels uniform of Admiral Thrawn (https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:ID_Thrawn_rebels) we would think it best that the same parts on this costume match the existing text, references and items that are currently being used by the Thrawn CRL.

I look forward to seeing your build! :)

  9. Hey Edward,

Thanks so much for your insightful post! It seems like you've done quite a bit of research into developing this costuming project and it's truly appreciated.
I have taken the request to the LMO discussion with the second LMO for the IOC @shadan and the wonderful IOC Detachment Leaders @buckrogersbarker & @kman and their invaluable CRL lead @Hoda to discuss the different views with everyone. It's then upto the Detachment Command to decide if they want to submit a poll request to the LMO team.

I would like to suggest sharing some of the references you've collected in your studies to help us visualize this request.

If there's anything else we can do to assist, please let us know :)

Hi! I am completely new to the 501st. I have been a member of the RL (yes, a Rebel scum) hahaha
It takes me a long time until I pick a costume, and for my debut in the 501st, I was considering making a "Dr. Pershing".

Is there anyone in this project?

Currently there is nobody who has (started) build(ing) this costume so it would be treated as a New To the Legion costume as there is no CRL for it available.

    Hello IOC.

I was contacted today and LFL have finally come back to us with info on the Sith Eternal.  The back of the tunic is a straight cut, not pleated, and there are two vertical seams on the back all the way down to the bottom edge of the tunic similar to the FOSB.

With this final bit of information, we've decided with the rest of the LMO team that this costume now has enough references to be build into a CRL :)

  12. I'm all for piping! I think it's a wonderful addition to make the look a lot more similar to the animated versions. For the Officer I would say there's contrast piping in the seams.
The piping requirement was added as a requirement to the Imperial Cadet CRL as well as the Hondo Ohnaka Imperial Era CRL.

Here's a comparison of seams without piping and with piping as it's currently listed on the Imperial Cadet CRL:

    cadets.jpg.451eaf062477effed45557a5a24c1cd9.jpg

    On another note:

I think it's very difficult to make the officer tunic fitted (especially on females) without any kind of figure darts on the back panel, so perhaps they should be permitted if it's needed to make the jacket fitted.

  13. You're off to a good start. Thrawn is such a cool character and his armored version would be a very cool addition.

I'm curious why you've chosen to line the armor with black pin-striping on some spots matching concept art, when the screen caps are different. I am also wondering why you've not applied the same black lining (in this case piping) to the epaulets when the references clearly show the same black lining there as on the armor. This same style has been applied to the Imperial Cadet and Hondo Ohnaka CRLs from the Star Wars Rebels show and they show the same outlined details that have been done with piping.

If I compare the shape of the helmet dome and the details to the CRL and costume for the variant that Arihnda Pryce wears, they appear to be the same shape with different detailing; https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:ID_Governor_Arihnda_Pryce#Version Two I think that it already sets a nice standard that can be copied over to Thrawn as it's essentially the same armor and helmet, in a different color.

  14. Hello everyone, I’m Daisy from the Dutch Garrison and together with Shaun I have been assigned as your LMO team for this term.

    About Me:
My name is Daisy van Rijn, and this is my first term as a 501st  Legion Membership Officer. I’ve been in the Underworld Detachment Command for the three previous terms. I have six approved 501st costumes, four in the Rebel Legion and I have three unfinished 501st costumes that are waiting for the right weather or parts. I have been sewing since I was 19 and love sharing that acquired knowledge with others.

  15. Might be a late reply, but there's an iron-on interfacing that's a little bit like iron-on hair canvas (actual hair canvas needs to be sewn by hand). It's very similar to the interfacing used in collared shirts (as mentioned above as an idea for your collar) but probably easier to obtain. You would have to interface your collar with it before sewing it together.

There's also the option of using an iron-on cotton, but I'm not sure whether the traditional gabardine wool will work well with it. I've used this method to interface the lapels and the collar of my Juno Eclipse costume, however I have to mention I wanted to leave the full collar so I'd have the more folded back lapel kind of look.
    Hope this is any help.
