The discs are made with notches and without. Even in the movies some of the characters had notched disks, and some had notchless If I recall, you can ask for a hat to be made with a notched or notchless disk ... Or just buy a pin that you can swap in and out.

The belt, even though I don't see a rivet in all the reference material,  I am open to compromising on.  Technically someone could just paint over the rivet.  But then they wouldn't be able to use the belt for anything else.

Hmmm.  I seem to remember another costume that had a similar quandary.  I shall go look it up.

We got our first real look at Admiral Versio from the new Battlefront 2 game today.  He'll be giving missions to Inferno squad around the time of Return of the Jedi.  His uniform is a fusion of the ANH and the Rogue One ISB tunics.  More photos to follow.

Hey all, I'm finally starting to get my life back together, after getting it thoroughly out of kilter due to the birth of my son.

I'm finally catching up on the boards I've been neglecting, and hope to keep more current, going forward.  The hard part isn't over yet (we're only a month in), but at least it's starting to be more routine.

I haven't neglected the IOC entirely, however... it's been very much in my thoughts.  So much so that I made sure my son had his own uniform.  Meet CID-3013, one of the youngest members of the Galactic Academy:

As a side note, since my wife posted this on the Ladies of the Legions group I have been inundated with requests to make imperial hats for their wee ones... LOL

I'm too busy making him other costumes, though.

Anyway, that's what I've been up to, in case anyone was wondering why it got so quiet around here without this loudmouth constantly piping up.  See you around the boards!

This? This may just be my new favorite outfit OF ALL TIME. The lightsaber skirt was on sale (I think it may still be on sale!), and like it suggests on the site I wore it with a petticoat.

Christina reacted to lantern2745 in Welcome to Ask an Advisor
Greetings Imperial Cadets!  If you are reading this, you have begun or will soon begin constructing one (or more) of the many IOC costumes within the 501st Legion.
The IOC Command Staff, and IOC Advisors are here to help you to be successful in this proccess.
To that end, this area will be for you, Cadet, to ask questions specific to your costume build, and have them answered by an Advisor.
Additionally, if you decide you would like to have one on one mentoring by an Advisor, this section will be here for you to make that request.

One question you may already have is, "What's an Advisor?".
An Advisor is a 501st member with an approved IOC costume appointed by IOC Command Staff to assist new members.

If you are more comfortable asking questions in a one to one setting, reply in the "Requesting an Advisor" section HERE using the format at the start of that thread.
Upon seeing your request, an Advisor will volunteer to work closely with you as you progress through your build.
Be aware that it may take a day or two for you to be paired with the right Advisor.

    As a note - When asking a question please do two things;
Make the title to your thread as short, yet detailed as you can.  Don't just title it, "Question" or "Does Anyone Know...".  If it's regarding boots, you could title it, "Will these boots work?" or "How do you care for boots?". Scan the titles of (or preferably read entire) threads that have come before you.  If someone is having or has had the same issue, you may save time (yours, ours, everyone's) by reading before posting.
Thank you for reading, and we look forward to helping you join the Imperial Officer Corps!

I am so happy that I got my hands on a copy of this exclusive, especially since they sold out and there was a bit of a fiasco regarding its sale

While at Celebration on Thursday I was wearing my staff officer uniform and a small child, who couldn't have been more than 4 or 5 years old and he was dressed as a Stormtrooper stopped in front of me, came to attention and gave me a salute.   I promptly came to attention myself and saluted him back, I think that will be one of my favorite memories from Orlando.

There is already a more "real life" CRL for Thrawn. People are still able to follow that instead. However if they want to do the Thrawn from Rebels, I believe it should look like the Thrawn from Rebels and not have extra pieces thrown in cause it's what we assume they would have done with a bigger budget to make it more true to life.

If you want fancy epaulets and greeblies, I'd look into the existing CRL. This one isn't designed to replace it, but be a different look altogether.

I just want to remind everyone, we are working on a large amount of new information and updates.  We are just starting on a new administration in the Legion and here.  Everyone has their pet project that they are waiting on, but there are a lot of requests and discussions for different CRLs.  We are going to address them and get all of them taken care of in a timely manner.

Keep in mind, most everyone working on the IOC side and Legion side of the CRLs, are gearing up for Celebration next week, so, with the exception of the new Governor Pryce CRL (which is very close to being posted BTW,)  don't expect many additional changes for a couple of weeks.  We are going to meet with Cari in Orlando for a concentrated course of CRL 101.

I would also like to mention, we all have Real World jobs and lives.  We donate a lot of time doing this for the Legion because we are passionate about it.  Everyone has been great working with the staff and suggesting improvements, Keep it up IOC!

My druthers are to hold all updates until they can be rolled up into one if it is suspected that there is more than one update needed.  Again that whole keep things sane, thing.  The aim of the "don't update all the time" thing is out of fairness to the members.  I've been in the situation of creating a costume, then the specs get changed while I am in the middle and before it gets approved .... it sucks    Have also been in the situation of creating a costume and then have heard whispers of changes, so I hold off .... only for the change never to be made ... again, sucks.

We want to prevent that as much as is possible.  This hobby should be happy, not stressful

That being said, we do trust the detachments, as experts on the costumes, that a given new CRL that they submit is not going to need a whole bunch of updates, and trust that due diligence was taken to ensure that.  A lot of the times,  updates are not major, and are more of a "perfecting and fine tuning" thing that gets placed under L2 / L3, if applicable.  Detachments have more latitude in updating those.  It is Basic Approval things that we need not to be always changing.

Unfortunately, there have been (are?) instances where the goal is striven for ... but not met.

Friendly neighborhood LMO here, posting today about CRL's and You.  What I am about to outline is not a step by step detailed thing, but rather, a high level informational post about CRL's and the path they take throughout their "lives".  What we want and aim for is a set of references a person can use to craft a costume that is as close to screen / reference material as possible.  That is the goal.  We also need to keep consideration of our members in mind.

For new CRL's, it goes like this:  a proposal is made by the detachment or member.  If the member is already working with the detachment, great.  If not, they get directed there.  The detachment will provide the LMO with all requested reference material and proposed wording for the proposed new CRL.  The LMO will review on a first pass, saying whether or not a CRL can/should be created.  With that green light, work can forge forward.  Please note, that is just a yes/no on whether or not the CRL can be made.  No review is done on wording at that time.  Once the detachment has finished its wording and collected its pictures, they submit to the LMO.

LMO reviews.  LMO Team reviews.  Lead LMO reviews.  At each review period, expect that wording changes will take place.  Expect that new, extra, different photos may be required.  Then Lead LMO sends the finished product back to the DL for a thumbs up.  Then, it gets published and "made green".

As for edits and updates to already existing CRL's .... they are done with almost as much multi-person involvement and sanity checking.
Once a detachment (in this case, you folks here) decide that a change should be made, that change gets posted in your designated place.  LMO reviews it.  LMO Team reviews it.  Lead LMO reviews in some cases.  Once the proposed change gets the thumbs up, THEN the change is made in Databank.

At no point is anything assured with a proposed new CRL or edit ... until it is actually published.  And it only gets published after multiple reviews.  This has not been, necessarily, how things worked in years past.  And it is, indeed, a tightening up from last year.  This is not in place to be obstructive.  Rather, it is an effort to keep edits sane, transparent, and to keep everyone, including the membership at large, informed.
