The Plexiglas rand bars are NOT going anywhere.  The Push Button type will be the more accurate choice for the higher approval levels.

just my two cents. you will never go wrong with the gear from PhiloProps. it is top notch.
Regarding the blaster. I used 3D printed stuff found on Etzy, and a Doopydoos resin blaster.

    I bought a set here:https://www.etsy.com/de/listing/285629145/merr-sonn-power-5-greebles?ref=listing-shop-header-3
thought I got the Blaster cheap and had to fill a lot of gaps. Take it easy and use 3D Printed Parts.

Hey, I just got approved in a CS tailor made.
The jacket arrived in an OK state, but the pants were of by several inches.

I ended up paying the same amount at the Taylors, as the uniform from CS. But the extensive work at the taylors  was worth it.
The uniform went from being an OK CS uniform, to being my uniform, fitting my body.
I would plan on using a good amount of money at the taylors, as an officer uniform should fit you snugly. No officer would leave the academy in a poorly fitting uniform.

    As for the boots:
Go with Hessen, and get the the boots fitted. They are awsome, and when trooping for several hours, you will love a propper fitting boot.

As the current Deployment Officer, and the person who wrote the ANH costume configuration post. I thought I'd best weigh in here, even though I'm a little late - Deployment Officer duties keep me extremely busy.

When I originally drew up the list of Officer configurations I used a number of additional sources to fill the gaps where the details weren't seen in the film. There were references which showed Praji with gloves, holster and blaster, but not from canon sources. After someone questioned how do we know if he a blaster when we couldn't see it on screen, I changed these details to be optional.

This is where the confusion has arisen, once they were listed as 'mandatory', now they are listed as 'optional'. Basically, at Imperator level we are looking for you to produce as an accurate and authentic costume as you can. We also love people who discover details we have never noticed, and we really like people who put the time in and research the uniform, and understand the subtle nuances.

I think I might see where the confusion came from.

Reading this thread, I believe Mark made an error in his post, although technically, no one actually told you that the gauntlets and blaster are NOT optional for L3.  Every single post has confirmed that they are optional, except one.  Perhaps that post is where your confusion came from?

The "correct accessories" for some characters would make the gauntlets and blaster mandatory.  Since Praji is never seen on screen with those specific accessories, however, they are optional.  Mark's answer was more generalized than specific to Praji.

Unfortunately, then he made a small mistake:

His second sentence is correct that "if you want to portray Praji for L3 you need to ... copy the character as accurately as possible".  BUT he was incorrect in his first sentence, when he said that "Praji has the gauntlets, Merr Sonn power 5 blaster with the brown holster."  That was a mistake.  Praji does NOT have those accessories on screen.  It is "assumed" that ALL officers have access to those, for some occasions, which is why they are allowed ("optional") if you want them.  But they are NOT required for Level 3 unless the character is seen with them on screen in every shot.  So for Level 3 Praji, since he is never seen on screen with the blaster or gauntlets (he is only shown from the chest up, in his only scene), they are NOT required:

I think if you stick to the basic Staff Officer costume you can achieve L2 without the optional accessories, which aren't required for approval.

L2 would be ok, L3 needs to be a specific character, so if you want to do a Praji, you need the correct accessories.

Praji has the gauntlets, Merr Sonn power 5 blaster with the brown holster.  Up to L2, these are optional.  But, if you want to portray Praji for L3 you need to have the copy the character as accurately as possible.  However, if you have gun laws in your country, we can make provisions for that.

Specific Officers aren't alluded to in the CRL, at least not the Staff Officers.  You can go L3 by the merit of your presentation if you don't wish to emulate a specific character.

Look over the pinned uniform configuration thread:

You'll see the specs for Praji are:

Uniform style : Imperial staff officer (ANH variant)
Gloves : Gauntlet style (optional, not seen in the film)
Rank bar : 4 blue and 2 amber buttons
Code cylinders : 2 blue tipped dosimeters
Belt boxes : 2 vertically aligned
Weapon : Merr Sonn Power 5 (optional, not seen in the film)
Holster : If you have a blaster

Blaster (and thus holster) is clearly listed as optional, as are the gloves.

No, they are every bit as optional is it seems.

Praji was not seen with a blaster on screen.  So it is 100% optional, if you are portraying his character for L3.  You do NOT need to have a blaster for Praji.

In what way is the "Officer Uniform Configuration" NOT correct?

It seems like you're convinced there is an issue, but there is no issue.  Perhaps there is something I'm not communicating well, or some language barrier issue?

    I think I understand what you're saying.

What I don't understand is this: For the purpose of the L2/L3 advancement program, I agree with you that the OUC is effectively "the bible" governing our configurations.  It very clearly states that the items are optional.  So where is the confusion?  Now *I* am the one who is confused, I think!
