Staff Officer - "Police" "Captain" "Republic"
I haven't been called a Nazi yet, BUT I was wearing my uniform when I had the honor of meting Carol Spinney (the Muppet performer who does Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch) and all he wanted to do was tell me stories about Nazis. Very awesome talking about Nazis with Big Bird.
    ISB - "Waiter"
Navy - "Dark Helmet" "Rick Morranis" "Space Balls"
Gunner - "Darth Vader" "Darth" "Daft Punk" (I loved the guy that called me Daft Punk, it was at the St. Patty's parade, the guy was screaming at me that he loved my albums, he was very drunk and very angry. I guess he hates that he loved Daft Punk...)

Chiming in a little here. Im thinking about doing this one myself. couple things i wanted to throw out there before moving forward.

Detachment placement of this officer. Spec Ops has already started a number of Army Unit Costumes. 2 of which are officers. Sunber and Army Officer Various Sources. Which Various looks very close to this current build. Would it be a better fit over there?

From the sources the helmet is more like the Army trooper without the indents for the spin.
The helmet is more like the Army trooper style in my opinion and doesn’t have the indents for the spin. Is this the consensus of how the CRL will be reflect?

Will the blaster and holster be a requirement?

Im not as familiar with Officer builds what are every ones thoughts for the uniform and where would be the best place to look at getting one?

    Difference I noticed from Veers
The helmet goggles starp to mee looks more like webbing then the grey neoprene strapping that Veers uses. What are peoples thoughts on this?

The helmet looks to use smaller more flat disc instead of using screw covers.

Updates to the CRLs are under discussion, as to the top strap on the boots.  I would hazard it's a safe bet the top strap will be Level 3.  I'm uncertain at the moment whether it would be mandatory or optional, for L3.

Thought I’d weigh in on this outfit as well as the subject of battlefront being used at all as a CRL reference.  I’ve been doing a lot of thinking on the subject lately. The short is that EA/Dice shouldn’t be trusted on accuracy any more than say Hasbro. Remember EA is a third party licensee, and while Lucasfilm signs off on their game, that doesn’t mean they are giving the tick of approval that every single thing in the game is now canon and 100% accurate,  films still override everything. Hasbro for example, their figures are usually pretty accurate, but not always perfect (E.g. The black series General Veers uses the exact same legs as Krennic, including the straps on the top of his boots. This doesn’t mean this is approvable for Veers, just Hasbro reusing parts cause they’re close enough and most people don’t know the difference. And let’s not forget the 3.75 Revan figure has the wrong mask because someone at Hasbro used an image of a fan mod as reference and even that got past Lucasfilm).

And this officer falls perfectly into category of inaccuracies that shouldn’t be used in costuming. For starters, the outfit has every intent of being a classic line officer uniform. I’d wager the armour was decided as they’ve seen a picture of veers and that’s what the officer’s should wear. But as Lieutenant J.G. said in the other thread, they only received the snowtrooper chest and harness as reference so they just used that, but the intent would have been Veers’ outfit.

The pants are the part where they have just recycled assets, as shown in the picture below. They have used the exact same model for the pants/boots as the first order officer on both the Imperial and Republic officer. This is just Dice taking a shortcut to save time, but we should be ignoring things like this because we know what those pants are supposed to be.

The collar is just another casualty of EA not being a stickler for details, same goes for the seam down the middle of the back. People are making 3d models (generally on a strict timeframe, they can’t spend as much time as they like on one character) and those errors in accuracy really shouldn’t make it into the 501st. Just take a look at the pictures below, the metal rod on the back of the helmet is poorly aligned and just floating off the surface, there’s no chin strap and there are 2 belts clipping through each other because they just slapped the FO officer belt on him (you can even see the FO buckle poking out); doesn’t really inspire confidence in accuracy.

I’m always reminded of the Armoured cavalry corps view on the lone AT-ST pilot in Return of the Jedi who was wearing Veers’ helmet from Empire as a clear case of “dressing to fill out a scene”. Their view is this helmet isn’t approvable because the consistent look of pilots is more important than being literal to costuming errors.

At the end of the day, this outfit just seems like a bit of a mess resulting from incorrect references and modellers taking artistic liberties to save time, neither should be used as reference. The same can be said for Admiral Versio; that outfit would have been intended as your standard ANH ISB uniform with a standard admiral rank bar addition, and has gone through modeller interpretation.

Apologies for the essay, I’m more a lurker on the boards but wanted to speak up as I’m quite passionate about costume standards, but following video game models too closely can start to degrade costumes we already know inside out.

    Hello.

I know about 8-12 of us have been bouncing back and forth, across multiple threads, with proposals, and CRL ideas for update and fixes, and sometimes we're being told it's being worked on, and sometimes we're told it won't fly, and sometimes we're told nothing.

I'm not one to dig too far into all the who does what, but would it be possible to confirm some information?

IIRC, the LMOs (and sorry, I'm not even sure what that stands for nor what they do) are the ones who update and create CRLs.

For the sake of my ignorance, and others who may be in the same boat, could someone explain, or point me to where if this already exists, the process of seeing movement on either an existing CRL, or creation of a new one?

If possible, could we be provided a map of what CRLs are known to have errors or need updates, and which are in the works for creation?

I just feel like if we had a road map of sorts, that would help a lot.  Thinking back to the beginning of 2018, I believe we've seen the introduction of the 451s and an update to the ISB Agent.

Seems like there are just a ton more to do and work on, and I'm curious how it's going or if folks are just too burned out or over loaded or maybe a ton is being worked on behind the scenes and we just don't know or see it.

Please do not read into this.  I'm not bashing anyone or saying anything negative.  I'm truly not sure of the process and just trying to understand it, as well as wondering if a few of us that are vocal can help in any way?

In the least, a road map or chart would be excellent!  If one doesn't exist, maybe someone with authority can give the green light for a few of us to help create one, or something?

    Thoughts?

Hi everyone, I'm working on a LT-319 costume build, the IIO officer from Star Wars Rebels.

Most of the character's top half can be seen in the episode he was in but no full shots of the lower half are available for the specific character.

There are shots of his colleagues but I'm not sure if the LMO/DLs would allow using these as proxy for LT-319's lower half.

I have the 3D models for the chest and headpieces ready for printing but I wanted to get the detachment's input first before proceeding with the project. Any help will be much appreciated!

Hi everyone, in order to help me understand the numerous variants of the black uniforms & what costume components could be used in other configurations, I created the Shared Components Matrix.  That black flight suit is quite ubiquitous!  I hope you find this useful.

It's not an official 501st document, just something I put together to help current & aspiring members.  The CRL is always the official reference which goes into more detail than I could include here.

(It has been pointed out that "Navy Trooper - Dress Uniform" isn't included; it would have made the matrix 3 columns wider due to all its own variations, and I had to stop somewhere...!)  So it's not

Thanks to @tristanuk and my garrison GML for providing feedback before being finalized, much appreciated.

I've actually started to look into making the actual belt boxes functional. I unscrewed an extra Museum Replicas box and i'm trying to see if I can make a door of some sort so i can at stow essentials outside the coat's inside pocket. Essentials being ID, Money, ETC non essentials for trooping : Phone, keys ETC. If i find it simple enough to do I might even start selling them.

    Hello there,

New guy from Houston, Texas area, starting on my first builds for basic (and hopefully better) approval.

I've ordered a few things so far:
Rogue One ISB uniform from MazCave (with black hat, belt, gloves)
    Grey officer uniform from CosPlaySky
Black Imperial Flight Suit from CosPlaySky
German Knobelbecker replicas from Hessan Antique
Dosimeter style code cylinders from PhiloProps
Rogue One belt boxes from PhiloProps
RK-3 and DT-29 blasters from Etsy
    Four different rank bars

Also looking at an armor kit from Walt's Troop Factory (snowtrooper breastplate, Veers helmet, buckle, harness)
Working with a vendor on Etsy to create a 'hero' style holster for the RK-3
and still need to order some Officer boots & goggles

Then I should basically have all all the pieces I need for an ISB, TIE reserve Pilot, and then working on this (which as of now has no CRL):

Should I move/copy this over there (in the interest of getting everything correct)? It doesn't really matter to me which detachment it goes into, though I do feel that it should be under the purview of the IOC. (plus, having it here would be one small step closer to my dream of having a white armored ISB. )
Ah, I missed that detail in the CRL. I could easily add that same wording on to this one.
I agree, which is why I asked them to do a color change to a light grey, and sent that reference pic. Waiting on a response to that one.

But we have a black poncho for black officers, krennic has a white tunic with a white poncho and in our CRL there is a green poncho for the green officers. So it is kind of fair to have the white poncho as an optional for officers with a white tunic?

Looking trough the glasses of a GML, I have to say the actual ISB-CRL is very confusing because it contains two separate costumes and many options. The headline sometimes state the movie they are meant for in fat letters, sometimes a line below the header in thin letters. You have to jump back and forth to make sure the applicants combinations of costume is correct. If a GML makes such an experience, I do not wonder if an applicant faces such problems too.

That's why I am happy to see @StevenStefans proposal for having a single CRL for Rogue One and @PArmstrPatricias efforts for the ANH-ISB-CRL. Splitting these two costumes into two separate CRL's makes sense to me and will make it a lot easier to get along with the costume check.

Armored Cavalry only handles costumes of those who operate large vehicles like AT-ST's.  The officers in battlefront 2 don't operate any vehicles and I believe they are trying to mimic Thrawn's, Tarkin's, and Pryce's protective armor as seen in rebels.  So it's pretty much Officer field protection armor.
