It all depends on budget and how soon you need it.

    In order of cost:

The best and cheapest way is to find some used riding boots in the right style.  This is not a popular riding boot style anymore, so it can take a while to luck into the right style in decent condition and in your size, of course.

After the, most people probably go for the Soviet Boots style boots.  They're approvable, and leather, but not especially accurate, so they won't be approved for higher levels.  Many just wnat basic approvable, though, so as long as they're an appropriate height for your legs, they suffice.  You can find them pre-vetted on Antigua House on Etsy, or roll the dice on eBay, or roll the dice from SovietBoots.com directly, although some have been burned by now getting the pre-vetted ones.  (these are used / surplus boots that are relatively old at this point, so condition varies a LOT)  Price ranges from $100-130 or so.

After that you start getting into the better and accurate boots, like Todd's Costumes and my favorite, Hessen Antiques.  Price ranges from $200-230 or so.

Imperial Boots makes Officer boots as well, but the cost is higher than the Hessen boots, and they're not as well made.  I'd not recommend them for that reason.  (they're not poorly made, but they're also not better made, and cost is higher ($260)... so why?)

Custom boots from Hessen run $300 or so, if you have thicker legs and will have trouble getting them on (very common issue for anyone without legs on the barely-normal-to-skinny side).  Mux Leather is in a similar price range, I think.

After that you can spend a ton of money on custom boots from any decent boot maker, but the price can go up rather dramatically, at that point.
