  1. Comparing CPS to Anovos is like comparing a '77 Kenner to a new Hot Toys.  I started out with CosplaySky, and people knew what it was supposed to be.  But moving up from that level to an Anovos (or ClothEars or Magnoli) is seriously a quantum leap forward.

That being said;  Get the best accessories you can up front (belt, rank bar, code cylinders, boots - especially boots) and get the CPS uniform for now.  You can make that uniform look pretty damn good by having top notch extras.  Then after you've trooped a while, you can upgrade the suit.

  3. Not long before Anovos started taking pre orders for the ANH TK, I was looking at CPS for a Line Officer uniform.  I'd heard of the 501st, but didn't really know much about it.  I'm not even sure how I stumbled across the 501st.  The uniform was for my wedding reception; That was an early idea for the theme, though my wife nixed it and we went with a Ren Faire theme.  I bought the Line Officer anyway.

Shortly after the TK pre order opened, I convinced three buddies that we should do it.  I bought a spare kit too, because it was on a credit card, not real money. hahaha

I got my Line Officer approved just before I broke my wrist just before TFA.  I missed out on trooping that, but while I was recovering and unable to sleep, I became pretty active on the IOC boards.  That's when I started getting gear for a Bridge Crew uniform.  Before I'd ever trooped, I had two approved costumes.

    I suppose it's a good thing I enjoy getting out there. :)
Two of the buddies have barely trimmed their TKs.  One sold his and went full Tie as we didn't see how we could make the TK fit him.  And I took my sweet time getting mine built, but I had the upper done for St Patrick's last year, so I went kilted trooper.  I finally got it green lit last fall.

Now I'm 6 costumes in, waiting on a helmet for my 7th.  Plus my son was approved as a Staff Officer last month (just turned 18) and is working on a Bespin Luke.  And my wife has a Jawa costume now too.

And I've met some great people here in the Wisconsin Garrison, as well as Midwest and beyond!  I think it's the people that keep me checking the forums like 10 times a day.

  4. With the current wording to the CRL, I interpret it to mean you have the 3 red/ 3 blue (or reversed) for the ANH cream version, and the 3 red / 1 blue for the RO white version.

I suppose a pertinent question would be which version are you going for?  There may be more wiggle room for the Rogue One version, as at level two it mentions rank bars being consistent with a film cannon officer;  If you can find a different rank bar you should be able to do it.  In ANH there are only the 3r/3b or reverse.

    Hope that helps!

  5. I also use a basic garment bag.  I picked up an extra tall one on Amazon for like 8 bucks.  And (like you) I'm looking into getting or making a boot bag so I can sling it over my shoulder to free up a hand.  My accessories go in a back pack with my extra under shirt, deodorant and what not.

Sometimes I put everything into my TK tote (50 gallon Husky bin).

I also bought this little number.

    Folding Garment Rack

For troops that don't have anywhere to hang stuff, it works great!  Other people can hang stuff on it too, and it's foot print is the same as a Husky tote!

  6. I think the pants and jacket would be matching.  In terms of "in universe" looks, I wonder if it isn't a jumpsuit with belt loops rather than a jacket and pants.

For the blinking pattern, I'd guess you would need to match it ala the way the Sith Lords require Vader's stuff to blink accurately.

On a side note, in the episode do they specifically call out what branch he is with?  Navy, Army, Imperial Intelligence Bureau?  I ask so we can figure out if the costume would belong here or elsewhere.

It's a cool costume, and I'd love to see it happen.  I just want to help figure out if it would be one of ours or not.

I have almost all the pieces for bridge crew/ tie reserve,  but having difficulty with the boot requirement like some I have found are 12 in,13 in or 16 in. Or  for basic approval just get something like this thoughts?

Hi!  Those particular boots would probably not work.  Removing the ankle strap is easy enough, but the top has that triangle cut out.

please excuse the jump in, but i figured since YOU open up a thread about boxes i can chim in with a question....

as far as Belt boxes, on the CRL it states an "approximate size" so would it affect approval if the boxes were to be half and inch bigger or smaller??

i found some boxes at 5x3x1....

    any and all info appreciated...

once once again i apologize for the jump in....

The wording says approximate mostly to account for people making their own boxes. Not everyone has the tools to get exact.

5x3x1 would look pretty off. In my opinion that is.

  9. For an officer, I always refer to them as "Uniforms".  For my Storm Trooper I call it a "costume" or "armor".  If it's a face character like Boba Fett or Darth Vader, I refer to it as a costume.

Bottom line, is that it varies from person to person and costume to costume.

Sorry, I meant bringing the uniform to them to use as a pattern to make a completely new one.

That makes much more sense.  Though if it were me, I'd use a cheaper uniform to use as a pattern.  Unless they can do it without destroying it.

They also have the armour and mud goggles. Bit off topic though. This is the third step in my plan. Step one layout, step two split/tidy CRLs (sorry Kris, I'm going to fight you on the ISB), step three add our missing officers back in (I'll be kind and even share them between detachments)

No fights. Disagreements are fine. Promoting ideas is good. But we've had enough fights in the last year or so. :)

I don't think you meant actual fight, but even that phrasing can color the discussion.
