Eric, the other head LMO of your team made this thread and was an LMO when they did.  Our assigned LMO who is a trained tailor and active for years in this detachment was turned onto this thread at the start of their term this year.

Can you give us a number of how many LMOs must be engaged in order to meet this threshold you are talking about?  You know as well as I do that you have released costumes in other detachments under your administration this term with less references than this.  You know as well as I do that there is not likely to be any more references released from this particular costume.  And even if there was, the applicant and this detachment are prepared to quickly adapt the CRL to meet new information that would develop.

Since I joined the legion in 2007 I have been told that a costume is made first then brought to the LMOs to be turned into a CRL.  Many of our CRLs in this detachment were created outside of it: Grand Moff Tarkin, General Hux, etc.  They were made outside of the detachment and without LMO oversight and no involvement from the staff and then turned into a CRL.  If you want CRLs to be started with LMO involvement before a stitch is sewed and a mold is sculpted, this is a VERY different method that I have ever seen.

I am still also concerned with your description of your LMOs holding a vote to decide issues when the fate of our costumes may be decided by the decision of someone not engaged or knowledgeable about the costume, the character, the references, sewing, sculpting, machining or anything connected to it.  Not that I expect your LMOs to know all about everything, but in the past those who specialized had more say than those that didn't.

I would like for you to show your procedures for how things are determined and how to move forward.  At the moment they are not very transparent or navigable for our members. And until that happens, I think it will discourage new costume creation.

The implication, intended or not, is that that DOs were being unfair on purpose.  I would suggest that it was simply missed, human error.  NOT that it was ignored.

Human error is not being unfair.

    I love my vacuformed compads!

It's always a balancing act between screen accuracy and having something look better than screen accurate... the on-screen ones never got the kind of close scrutiny that we get when we troop.  The crisp detail you can get from the resin compads can look awfully nice, for instance.

Still, I've mostly switched to vacuformed ones, for my own costumes, just because I'm an accuracy nut that way.

Some of you know that Kenneth Colley suffered a stroke last year and was hospitalized.  We were limited in how his condition was until we saw this.

Because I can already hear people howling that there isn't enough screen reference, I'll preemptively ask where the first image came from, and if there is a view from the back.
    It looks really cool though!

Edit:  I saw in another post where it was from. Topps cards. Who knew?

Something to remember with Line Officer uniforms in "real life" is that the colors all photograph differently.
Flourescent light, LED, natural day light, semi pro lighting, camera, all can make the exact same uniform look wildly different.
Like Kris and Kalani have said, Maz Cave is a highly regarded supplier.

So, I made a new hat with a slightly shorter brim and put everything together.
I will need to tighten the belt but other than that, I think I am done

I am so please with how this came out.

I bid a fond farewell to the staff of the IOC.  It's been an honor and a privilege to serve the IOC for the past 8 years.

So good luck to all, I'll still be around to advise, but I now fly into the wild blue yonder.

    Howdy and good day everyone!

I was on my way to search for materials and references in regards to my first Star Wars costume ever. Now, before you ask, I haven't really made up my mind on this yet

On my search I came across a character named Yort Cavwol, who apparently made his first appearance in some secondary literature and is barely more than a reference photo.

Now, what intrigues me about this is this: Has there been any attempt at a Rogue One Bridge Crew CRL yet? Is this even a thing? I signed up quickly on this forum, as I figured the IOC would have the best ideas about this. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find anything regarding this in the forums.

Here's the thing, this character doesn't appear to use the regular/OT style jumpsuit, but rather the Nylon ones used on the Disney Era pilots - with the middle cover strip removed.

Additionally the photo of Yort shows very clearly a compad and gloves. I've been able to grab some screencaps from the film itself, that show no gloves.

Lastly, there's belt boxes! Everyone's favorite. I haven't been around these forums quite long enough yet to determine the differences between OT belt boxes and the Disney era, but I'm sure you guys will be able to explain this in more detail  The lack of rank badge points to these guys being Crewmen, even if the Wiki entry states Yort in particular to be Ensign.

What do you guys think about this? Should this be a costume that people can get signed up on?

(In case this is all in the wrong place - I'm sorry, mods! Feel free to move the post of course)

    Alright folks.
The plan is for this to go live in early January.  But there will be a window where the current version and the new iteration will both be valid options for new approvals.
That's not an Earth shattering announcement, but it's where we are.
So enjoy the holidays!  We'll have this polished and ready after that.

I like it.  And I'll be completely honest with you.  This costume/CRL will almost certainly be on the next DL (and their staff's) plate.
Keep working on it, as I don't see why it shouldn't be accepted.  But know that it will take time to work through the system.

    Hello everyone.
I create this post to show the WIP for a new CRL, the ISB AGENT (Battlefront 2), since the reference images are only of the video game, I will have to wait for the confirmation of the GML of the detachment to see if it is possible to do this suit for the 501st.
For the rest I leave here reference images and 3D models of the hard parts that I have created to make the suit. As I say, the suit is in process.
