lantern2745 got a reaction from ImperialDirector in Celebration 2020 FAQ
Now that we're about 6 or so months out, I thought it was time for Star Wars Celebration 2020 to have it's own section.
I'll try to get all the FAQ type stuff in this post.

    What: Star Wars Celebration 2020
Where: Anaheim Convention Center 800 W Katella Ave, Anaheim, CA 92802
    When: August 27 - 30, 2020
More info as it comes in.  Until then, here is the official website

    Hey everyone,

I've been off these forums lately because, well, I had a date with Ms. COVID. It's been a rough hospital stay but I'm out and about, and as soon as I can stand(Laying in bed for weeks did nothing for my already bad knee) I'm submitting my photos for approval. I wanted to apologize to @AmadorHimselfand the others who were looking forward to more trivia; I never had time to write them up and then this happened. But I am alive, I am well, and I'm ready to be a bad guy, doing good.

    Glory to the Empire,
    Phillip

Wendy, and Andreas - You two certainly know this costume better than I, so your research will be what is leaned on.
The pants legs seems to be the same to me (as how they are at the boot tops I mean).  And there is a seam down the center of the back still, so I'd think the zipper is hidden there.
The colored yoke part does seem shorter.  It looks to end at the bottom of the arm hole.
We can just barely see the logo on the front, but I can't tell if there is any Aurabesh lettering like on the R1 costume.
Unless we see them again, or get a Visual Guide reference (crossing my fingers) We would likely do as Kris said, and tweak the existing CRL to accomodate the Imperial Department of Research version as well.
That would probably include a name change to "Imperial Science Technician" or something along those lines.

I'm pretty sure the costume is the same as in Rogue One. Only the emblem has been replaced. I love that they stick to the idea of unifying the costumes, rather than creating many varieties, as in OT. I also remember that in one Darth Vader comic, there was a medical worker in the same suit. However, there was the emblem of the mudtrooper medic. I believe that the costume designers decided that it would be logical to distinguish scientists from different departments with their emblems.

I did the Cadet a few weeks ago for a friend and got her approved (ID-80688)! Now she is the first Cadet in Germany! We used this 3D-Files from Etsy:

    https://www.etsy.com/de/listing/566412197/star-wars-imperial-kadett-helm-3d-druck?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=imperial+Cadet&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&organic_search_click=1

This Helmet has the up- and down moving Faceplate. It is rather small, i would recommend to scale it up by some percent, but it turns out quite nicely. 3D Print, so the Putty- and Sandjob is a Pain in the A***, but it is definately worth the Effort!

Damn... and I did this logo based on the screenshots posted above - not too far away, not knowing, it already existed ^^

I'll wait for some 4K Screencaps to do more research, but some differencesdifferes were already mentioned. But I like that they were inspired by the Rogue One costume of the scientists.

Some CRL's have detail pages for certain parts. Like the ANH tie pilot helmet page. Maybe we should make those for the rank bars, code cylinder, code disk, and belt boxes. Ide be happy to help write that!

Belt on backwards hurt me though.  Any real world military if you put your ribbons on the wrong side or sewed a patch on the wrong arm, I think you'd get one heck of a chewing out.  Belt upside down when you Captain a ship?  Tsk! :p

Upon rewatch, I think you're right.  They definitely have a brighter backing material (or are color corrected in post-processing, more likely) than the OT badges did.  They're very spaced compared to their OT counterparts (and way more spacing than rogue one/solo ever had).

For some reason I can't screenshot disney plus on my PC... screen goes black, or I'd post some identifying shots.

    ---

Actually I take it back.  I think the metal backing might be bigger and they're still Rogue One sized...

    Imperial Staff Officer (Non Saga)
    Description: Imperial Staff Officer
    Prefix: ID
    Detachment: Imperial Officer Corps
Context: Rogue one, Solo, The Mandalorian and Expanded Universe.
These black uniformed officers are high class soldiers within the Empire's Imperial Army and provided a commanding presence among the legions of Stormtroopers where their leadership roles often inspire troops in battle. These ambitious officers not only serve aboard starships and military installations but are also pilots for transports,

    Imperial Hat, black
Fabric is a medium weight suiting material matching the pants and tunic if applicable. Hat is coned shaped with a flat crown. Gabardine style weave is most accurate. Base of the hat is conical, with a crown about 4" (101.6 mm) tall. Front and rear "flaps" overlap on the sides and are about 4" (101.6 mm) high. Front bill extends 3" down, decorated with 5, 6 or 7 concentric stitches. Imperial Code Disk is positioned in the center of the front vertical flap. Code Disk has no notch detail on the outermost disk.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Code Disk exactly matches anthology films.

Tunic, Black Fabric should be a medium weight suiting material exactly matching the pants and hat. Tunic is double-breasted with a left over right closure on the tapered yoke. Yoke comes up across the shoulder to the top shoulder seam. The standing collar has square corners and is about 1.25" (31.8 mm) tall, closes snugly and includes a modesty panel behind closure. Collar edges are closed with two eye hooks. There are code cylinder pockets on both outside panels of the jacket from about half way between the top and bottom on the arm hole. Sleeves are long, and without decoration, cuffs or buttons, containing 2 seams, one along the bottom and one along the back. Tunic is constructed with no top-stitching (stitches visible on the exterior surface of fabric) Fasteners on the uniform should not be visible.
OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): There is a dart in the top center of the yoke. Dart should extend slightly past code cylinder pockets. There is a seam running the entire circumference of the tunic, dividing it along a line hidden by the uniform belt. The back of the tunic has princess seams that run vertically and turns outward to intersect the arm-hole seam at the vertical center.
OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): Tunic must be secured on the right side by snaps or buttons, not Velcro.

Rank Bar   Worn on the left side of the tunic over the heart. Rank consists of colored plastic tiles mounted on a single or double metal or metal looking bar. The bar is approximately 1" (25.4 mm) height. Rank tile dimensions are approximately 1/2" (12.7 mm) width x 3/4" (19 mm) height x 1/8" (3.2 mm) deep. - This is the OT size., the correct larger tiles are also acceptable. OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable):
Code cylinder combination must match chosen rank.

Belt The belt is constructed from a non-textured leather or a leather-like material. Approximately 2" (50.8 mm) in width, up to 3" (76.2 mm) is acceptable. There are no loops on the belt. A single large snap or rivet is visible approximately 1" (25.4 mm) from the buckle. The belt may be worn with the snap to the right or left of the wearer. The buckle is constructed from a horizontally brushed metal, or metal looking material. The buckle size is approximately 2 5/8" (66.7 mm) high and 4 1/8" (104.5 mm) wide with 0.5" (12.7 mm) radius rounded corners. Buckle is adorned with an Imperial Code Disk at the center.
