It's not approvable for any sort of 501st designation, I don't think, but as to how it would work, @Mosai(Billie) would be a great guide!

Here at the IOC, we're all OFFICERS, and some folks strive for higher levels of accuracy. Others don't, which is also OK.

The purpose of the metal reinforcing plates on the edges of military boots is simply to help reduce wear and allow the soles / heels to last longer in high wear spots.

They're hell on hardwood floors, though (not to mention slippery!).  Be very careful walking on other people's floors that could be damaged from them!

I have screenshots showing boots were worn with and without the plates.  You can see them in some shots.

I bought the boots, I hope the measurements work. There was no button to choose the required size so I did it via message.

    Wish me luck!

The Mux boots are a good choice, I've thought about ordering some myself.

The other looks good too, but I'm not a fan of the pull tab on the top.

That looks great! Luckily, the inside doesn't matter even a little bit (on most costumes, anyway). Nicely done.

Haha yeah, doesn't look nice from the inside, but that collar looks a lot better now. Nice work!! It's so weird that the Magnoli made the collar with top stitching...

    Thanks Clayton. Much appreciated.

Just scrolled through the thread again, and it's interesting to note that DaddySolo's tunic also has the top stitching on the left side near the eyelets, the same as mine.

Hey there, the parts shown on the left side.

And that is deeply disappointing, Magnoli should know about the top-stitching being prohibited.

Oh, I was a child of the 70's.  I saw Star Wars in the theater in July.  My cousins from California came to visit, they were excited about this great space movie.  We just happened to get the movie at the theater in the larger town near my hometown during their trip, so my Uncle took all to see it.  I was hooked.
When ESB came out, I still had to wait weeks for the movie to get close enough for my mother to take us, the wait was endless.
However, when RoTJ opened, I was able to talk my Mother into driving to the Quad Cites (I grew up in a small town in Illinois,) that was over a hour from home on opening day!!
When opening day for TPM came around, I had 3 of my own kids, so I took the day off, took the kids out of School and even took my Mother to see this movie that continued the story that I grew up with.
Of I did the same for AotC and RotS with my youngest son too.
Now, I get to dress in several of my favorite costumes and share my joy with Joe Public as a member of the 501st Legion.

On Wednesday, May 25, 1977, Star Wars began its theatrical run on thirty-two U.S. screens, including the legendary Mann's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. The rest, as they say, is history.

As it happens, the IOC leadership has little say in the overall structure and formation of the 501st Legion's detachment system.  Any structural changes would need to be proposed, voted on, and ratified over on the main 501st boards, not here.  That's above ALL of our pay grade, and discussions here on the IOC forums about how we each feel things "should" be will accomplish absolutely nothing to that end.

There are at least 3 major concepts that can be used to determine where this costume should go.  Which to apply is the source of many battle, as we've seen with the Shoretroopers.  But honestly, IOC doesn't seem to apply to any of them.  Want to put it with similar uniforms, from a construction standpoint?  ACD makes more sense than IOC, since the only IOC feature is the jumpsuit base that applies to many other detachments as well.  Want to put it troopers with a similar job function?  Well, ground pounder Army troops don't really belong in the Officer's Corps.  So how about source?  Perhaps since it's almost exclusively found in the Extended Universe it belongs in the Flagship Eclipse?  Pretty much, we either put it into another detachment where it doesn't quite fit it, or we make a whole new detachment around it.  But we're back to the fact that none of this of these really makes sense for IOC purposes.  IMO, at least.

I like the idea of the IAT as a character.  Truly.  I hope it finds a home.  But I honestly agree with others that I don't see how it specifically fits here.  I'm happy to read discussions about it, and learn more about it here.  But homing the costume here just doesn't make sense to me.  The only way to get a new costume off the ground is to start things up on the main 501st forums.  I believe the character would start off as unaffiliated until the people above our pay grade decide on another home for it (after much discussion, but multiple detachments would need to have their say on this, so again, having the fights here makes no sense, they need to be central.  But that's how you can get this costume going.  You've done the research and have the backup (as much as their is, at least).  So why not start the ball rolling on the 501st forums, and let the folks in charge make a determination, if they feel what you have is up to snuff?  That's what has to happen, no matter what, for any brand new costume.

If the IAT needs it's own detachment, that's a huge undertaking.  Not that it can't be done (and I'm not saying it SHOULDN'T be done), but someone has to actually DO all that work, and be in charge of the new detachment.  Are you volunteering to build up an entire detachment?  From talking to those who built the IOC and FISD detachments, the amount of work is pretty staggering.  You need someone really dedicated to a costume to undertake that kind of work.  Clearly we've had that, for the current detachments.  You may very well be that guy, for this one, so if you can convince others to join in the party, maybe you can be the newest detachment CO.  THAT would be an impressive accomplishment.

That is a tidy setup! I like that all of the accessories end up together. It's like an onion! As far as the big case goes, it almost looks like that could do double duty for a TK, minus helmet of course. I am all about dual purpose!

My entire bridge crew fits in one of these American Tourister suitcases. I might add a garment bag at some point, but I am far less picky about wrinkles with that suit than others are with officers, so I just fold it in half nicely and lay it on top of everything.

The case always gets positive comments!

I've seen some great ideas out there for how folks are transporting their Officer gear and I wanted to see what I could assemble on a budget.  Here's my $35 solution that replaces the duffel bag that I've been using:

The box is a Sterilite 40G wheelie for $22 at Walmart.  It's smaller and much lighter than my Husky armor box and as you can see holds my boots, all of my Officer gear, and even a collapsible garment stand to hang things up when dressing.  Bonus, the inside of the lid is a great place to display patches:

The small box was $5 at Target plus another $8 for the chair padding foam from JoAnne's.  I cut out insets from the foam and this made the perfect storage box for all of the accessories on the first layer and then my Krennic pistol on the second layer:

The box will also hold my Staff Officer uniform in it's garment bag when folded in half.  It will not hold the Krennic cloak bag, but then again nothing will!
